Huge moment of happiness today. Talked to my project about moving to Toronto, explained that as a minority I don't feel safe in the US. The cost for me to fly in every week is actually cheaper.

Oh yeah to light this thread further on fire (😂): here's quotes from MLK Jr. - the guy so many white people claim to love, who did it "the right way", and the guy they try to use to shame black people and BLM via respectability politics even though he used the same tactics as BLM:

"Whites, it must frankly be said, are not putting in a similar mass effort to reeducate themselves out of their racial ignorance. It is an aspect of their sense of superiority that the white people of America believe they have so little to learn."
+
"First, I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season."

I'm an international person waiting for h1b visa to work legally in US. There's only about 36%of chance to get the visa lottery for now. Trump's policies will definitely make h1b harder to obtain. I paid same amount or even higher tuition than US citizens, paid my taxes and worked really hard to get a job here. Many international people with advanced education background like me rely on the working visa and we're making contributions to this country. We are not paid lower than other Americans in the same position. Trump's policies will have negative impact on h1b visa, and he posted on Facebook that he'll this visa disappear. Then how can people like us who came to this country with legal status keep creating values for this country? Trump's mindset will ruin all the efforts we put here. A lot of you said his policies are only against illegal immigrants, but all his perspectives on international hires and working visa treat legal and illegal immigrants the same way.

If you don't feel safe here you probably shouldn't fly in every week....you definitely should just stay in Canada

Hey, I've got an idea... everyone dumping on this person for their decision to move, eat a bag of male genitalia. The whole point of America is that everyone gets to feel the way they want as long as it doesn't harm another person. I think Trump is an asshat, so I'm staying in America to cast every vote I can against him. OP thinks Trump might actually endanger their life, so he's moving. You think Trump is great, so you stay to vote for him and his policies. Why can't that just be the end of it. If you want to shit all over another person because of their opinion, I hear Afghanistan is wonderful this time of year.

I completely disagree. I think that everything you said is factually incorrect. I do respect your right to voice your opinion however.

He will be the greatest president we've ever had! He's done more as a president elect as barack did in 8 years in office. He will make America great again and safe again. You should stick around and not run away.

Trump's victory makes me very nervous. I fully believe that he plans to implement many of the things he spoke about during the campaign. I understand that people have differing political views, but I don't feel safe at all with him in the White House. I also feel that the US will be targeted with attacks more often.

Why don't you feel safe in the US?

For fuck's sake OP. Stop being a baby!

Shout out to the commenters paternalistically advising @OP on how he should feel dealing with experiences they will never deal with and demanding that he justify his discomfort. As a fellow professional, why not ask him more about his experiences? He's clearly not a "thug" since he works at ACN. But I forgot, It's not like any of you could learn anything or bear to listen. The tone deafness and arrogance is laughable.

People are calling him a pussy and other names, yet thy the one upset over a stranger deciding to move. It's ironically fragile, no?

@OP - enjoy yourself man. Stay warm. I hear the weed is good up there too lol.

This has got to be a troll. 🙄 A black man that doesn't feel safe bc of the president elect all of a sudden but willing to spend Mon-Thurs traveling in to US? Enjoy Canada, the US doesn't need or want you.

EY2, God bless you. All jokes aside, your mindset scares the hell out of me. It's a big part of why I'm leaving. Facts, logic, truth...none of it actually matters to you and many people like you who support Trump. I won't debate with you, I'll pray for you and I'll get as far as I can away from you.

As a Canadian, I can assure you that you will not end up doing better financially. Don't kid yourself, DJT is not out to get African Americans..

The fact that people can't understand the difference between illegal immigrants and legal immigrants is unbelievable. Trump, and those who voted for him, are against illegal immigrants because they are law breakers. It's f-ing black and white. OP you said "I fully believe that he plans to implement many of the things he spoke about during the campaign" and cite that as the cause of your fear. Please tell us what specific thing he said he'd do that would scare you into fleeing the US. Also please tell us how EY2 was wrong. The facts about AA community during the last 8 years is factual.

like

Op you are being absolutely delusional.... agree with the poster who said you should just stay in Canada

like

You answered why you do not support trump, but I don't see how you answered why trump makes you scared for your life as an AA enough to move. In fact, moving to a foreign country and having to travel would exacerbate some of your fears and NOT be in your best interest if you were right. Under 8yrs of Obama, AA poverty rose, crime rose, and unemployment rose. If anything, Bill Clinton was to blame for the largest increase in minority incarceration and likely would have been furthered by Hillary who talked of super predators needing to be brought to heal. Are you fearful you will be arrested based on how trump wants to police minorities? If anything, it is whites that should be fearful over some of the recent racial hatred and black on white crime due to the racial polarization and BLM violence.

P1, one thing I've learned in this already great nation is to be a man of my word. I've made a commitment and I will keep it. If I happen to find an international role after this assignment then I'll happily fly elsewhere. 🙃

I spend 2 hours a day being productive and the rest of the time watching Netflix/Hulu/etc or napping/eating.

Have been doing this for 3 months now and I continue to get positive feedback from everyone. I can do this for another year (duration of my project) and no one will say anything.

Had to get that off my chest. Life is so nice/on easy mode these days 😬

Currently on a long-term M&A project which has made it impossible to practice for the GMAT...
