My work is highly focused on inclusion and today, while driving through the park, I felt bad for laughing at a group of larpers. They have nerf combat gear, too. I tried hard not to be insensitive to them being their true selves but i laughed … hard! And now I feel bad for laughing at them.
If we didn’t have Trump in the oval office, would we be having conversations about diversity and inclusion on a National level? 🤔

Holy crap, is it common in professional services to openly refer to people as "diversity hires"? I mean I went to the same top 20 b school, paid the same $120k, got the same 650+ gmat.
Parents are deciding between moving to WVirginia vs Virginia for retirement to be closer to us based in fairfax, va(ideally be at 1 hour driving distance). They currently in the mid west but WVirginia appeals to them because of low taxes, low cost of living. We are also poc so appreciate some diversity. What are some areas you would recommend both in Va and WV? What else should they consider prior to house hunting? Dad likes to garden/farm as well so looking for homes with large backyards. Tia!
A WM was just named DEI lead for our department. He keeps talking and writing messages in ways which prioritize the aggressor’s feelings, the aggressor’s safety, and “positive intent.” He also talks and writes about “How to not jump from kindergarten to college in one conversation when it involves DEI.” He never talks or writes about inclusion or making things safe for BIPOC. Has anyone seen firms hold successful, well-received diversity/cultural events? Especially firms with low diversity numbers but an interest in increasing awareness and education without patronizing.
Do you think there is still a huge gap in skills for women in Tech despite all the pushing to reduce the gender gap? why is that?
Do big agencies fear diversity? Do they feel introducing high level talent of color will begin chipping away at traditions of white leadership? Do they fear hiring ppl of color bc of their influence?
Women in creative leadership at my agency pride themselves on being “just one of the guys” & won’t acknowledge gender bias or promote from within unless it’s young talent they don’t consider a threat.

I switched to EY GDS.So thought to come back with my experience.The process was absolutely hassle free. In 4-5 days after joining, I gave client interview. Got selected and came to this project which I should say a dream project. Working in Data science team of the project with 10yrs experience data scientist from Uk. 4 out of 7 in my team are from UK. 2-2 hrs KT by extremely experienced data scientists was provided to me on ML algo that run here. Focus in healthcare strat and org change/transformation — when folks call I’ve been asking for $175K base but the roles have topped out at $150K base. It’s absolutely contrarian that this show up on a job application. If we are trying to get away from labeling people, then let’s get away from labeling people. Especially when it goes into very personal specifics. What’s next: Out of 50 shades of gray, which number are you? Or: If gay, please specify bottom or top. (Let’s say I’m versatile, which do I choose!?) Oh, methinks I’ll just stay unemployed then.

San Francisco vs LA for early 20s? I’m currently in Northern California and I’ve lived here my whole life, and I want to move out of my parents’ house in a few months but am really debating between SF and LA. SF is the more logical location, but I’ve always loved Southern California. My closer friends and family are in SF, but I wouldn’t be alone in LA either.
