I learned in any type of relationship whether it be personal or business that you start out with two compliments and then get to the nitty-gritty. ;)

Great advice!

I just give notice and be like “I appreciate working with ya’ll and the opportunities y’all have given me but, I’m out of here. I found something that aligns more with my goals. My last day is [insert 2 weeks from now]. Peace out” and scene. That’s how I generally do it, more or less in those words.

Hahaha I love the “and scene”

Find out when the benefits end and when the bonus ends. A coworker who left before me said that we had to work until the end of the month to get the bonus payout, but that benefits ended at the end of the month. I stayed until the end of the month and got umbrella benefits until my new ones took effect (using the money I got from the bonus). Planning ahead gave me a chance to take time off before starting my new job, where I could actually enjoy it, not stress out about my paycheck and benefits.

Obviously I don’t know your manager or company, but don’t expect them to be super excited for you. It sounds terrible, but when I quit my agency for an in-house role, they told me “I was leaving everything behind” and “you’re just going to be another number”. The first agency I left was actually very happy for me, but they were genuinely good people. Regardless, you’re making the right move and don’t doubt yourself. Just don’t let them talk you out of it :)

Agree. Most recruiters are let go shortly after they give 2 week notices

Congrats!!! Tell your manager verbally today, either in-person or a phone call, saying that it’s been awesome working with them for x amount of years but you’re ready to move on to something different. If they ask any follow up questions, I usually am vague and general in my answers for my own privacy. Ask your manager what the procedure is to resign and how to go about informing all your colleagues and clients.

Before you make that phone call, have a formal resignation letter ready to send as a follow-up. There are templates online if you don’t know what to write. Hope this helps!

Thank you for these suggestions!! I really appreciate it. I’m working on a letter now :)

Congrats to you!

Thank you!!

Grateful for the professional and personal growth I was allowed to…… is another line that is always welcome

Looking for some advice… Currently a sales rep and was asked to apply for a manager position. The pay would be a lot more at first, but in sales I could probably get to the manager pay in a few years. Plus I’ve never worried about job security as a sales rep and sometimes I think managers are expendable. WLB in my sales position is awesome. Only temptation for manager is the pay. Any thoughts?

I have a friend who graduated with a CS degree in '17. Since then he's sporadically looked for work in the field but not found any, and has worked as a supervisor. His coding skills have atrophied substantially.

I've been encouraging him to grind leetcode and apply for at least 10 jobs a day, I'm not sure how much hes really doing.

Is there any chance of him finding work? Would taking a bootcamp help him? At this point I'm considering advising him to move on.

What do they look for in the HBS interviews? are the stats “irrelevant” now? As in, you checked that box to get an interview now and it’s about something else? I ask, because I’m reading a ton of rejects with much higher stats (GPA/GMAT) than mine and now am concerned I barely made it and it will still drag me down.

Hello fellow recruiters!

I've got a tricky recruitment Q I'd love some advice on - asking a candidate if they require reasonable adjustments to work, in a non descriminatory way.

I've had some candidates disclose disabilities etc but don't let us proactively know of any reasonable adjustments required and later down the track have them say we aren't supporting them with their disabilities.

How can I ask without having discriminatory allegations made?
