On a positive flip side, a parent was in line behind me last year and, overhearing my purchase was for my classroom, handed the cashier their credit card saying how much they appreciated what teachers do, and that more money should be provided so that we weren’t out of pocket for classroom materials. There will always be those who don’t have a clue, but there are many who do and are appreciative.
I agree! For every person who thinks teachers are lazy there are 3 people who think we are currently doing the impossible! My dollar tree cashiers know me by name and they always thank me for all I do for the kids!
I really think there should be teacher duty like jury duty. It would be an eye opener, and even more so during this virtual teaching nightmare.
I agree.
For anyone who thinks teachers are being lazy, here’s how I just spent my Sunday (first of all, I have over 100 students, and no teacher’s aid). Progress report grades are due, lesson planning for the week for all 5 high school classes, writing my A-G for approval, sending emails to parents, planning an event for my student organization (club), and planning for an upcoming career fair. Adding criteria to the google classroom, and my new students to remind, prepping for my advisory board, and I’m pretty sure I’m forgetting something too! I’ll have to check my 3 calendars!! All while trying to squeeze in some quality time with my kids and Husband, and finishing up the cleaning that didn’t get all the way done yesterday (my other “day off”)!! I worked from 11am until finally stopping at 11:30pm because I have to wake up at 5:20am to teach. I get paid for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, definitely work at least 12-15 hours a day, 6 days a week! Two words: Not Lazy!!!
Just smile and carry on.
What a person says about others actually says more about that person than it does anyone else. ❤️
I appreciate all my children’s teachers. I know how hard we all work.
I’m a poor para educator who will gladly spend my money on “ my kids”

These days I just smile and say I'm all ears tell me how to do a better job.
Probably helps that I have a look like I'm about to tear someones head off when I say it.

I have learned not to take anything personal this year. It’s too much mentally. We are going to hear the positives and negatives. Its up to you on which one you react too.
To bad he can’t be a fly on the wall to see what teachers do!!!🤔
Too bad he can’t be a teacher... I wonder why he isn’t signing up since it’s so easy!
Teacher hating has been steadily growing for some time.
On a serious note, I totally get it. I have new students this semester, and I have already exhausted myself during the unexpected DLD days we just had. We were in the middle of argumentative writing, and I can tell you that managing that was absolutely ludicrous.
I am glad I took the time to show students how to use the platforms for the VERY purpose of being ripped out of school again, but I can say that there were MANY who behaved as if they hadn’t a clue how to use Canvas.
