Unpopular opinion: the latest changes to H1B visa program are acceptable and ultimately serve a good purpose in the long run.

1) Get yourself in a positive mindset. It's OK to feel bad, grieve the loss of your job and be stressed about the things that lie ahead of you but don't let it consume you.
2) Get a good lawyer and talk to them about options - B2 to stay longer, H-4 if your spouse makes you eligible etc.
3) Be mindful and dedicated while applying to jobs. Searching for jobs is a full time job. Start at 8 am and be sincere about it all day.
4) Network with all your friends, ask for referrals and talk to every headhunter and recruiter you can find. Reach out to anyone you have met in your professional experience and see if they can refer you to any company.
5) If your skills are a match, try harder than usual to get into a large tech company so you know they will hire immigrants and transfer your h1
Above all, look at the big picture. If not US, you'll move back to your home country and be happy. You will find a new job, you will be closer to your family and everything will work out. Be ready to be prepared for this scenario as well and you'll not feel as much pressure. Good luck 🤞
What D2 posted is GOLD. I was laid off and the depression was real but my wife wouldn't let me drown in it. She got me up each morning to do a full 8 hours of job searches. You need to work on your resume to make sure it gets past the bots and ignorant recruiters. You need to be upfront about sponsorship so that you don't waste your time with companies that don't sponsor. Lastly if you really want to stay in the US, you may have to make some sacrifices like a demotion, or moving out of state. Overall throughout the process keep your head up. YOU HAVE VALUE. And don't forget that you have US Big 4 experience. You can work anywhere in the world. All the best OP!
OP I was laid off last month and was in a similar situation. Let me tell you that it gets better. It takes time for opportunities to pan out so have patience. Don’t let rejections get you down. As everyone said, focus on mental well being, get your resume in shape and reach out to friends/family/colleagues for referrals. It took me 2-3 weeks to get my first interview call. Now I have a signed offer from FAANG and another interview with another FAANG company. Don’t lose hope! All the best!

Very well said M1. Do you mind if I DM you? Would love to know your strategy and experience to crack FAANG

See a lawyer, and see if you can obtain a b-2 visa.
Agree with D2 and D3 - especially would reiterate point 4 from D2 - best way to find a job is to be considered before it even gets posted. I would reach out to family, friends, coworkers and ask for referrals inside their companies. I had proactive conversations with a bunch of folks and 2 of them converted into interviews that I am now in final rounds for. Some others came through online app + referral.

I would create metrics, set targets, and track them daily
Reach out to at least X new people in the network and ask for time
Talk to at least X new people
Apply to at least X new jobs, with referral...etc
DM me if you need a resume sample to compare/ contrast - I got traction after making a few tweaks on mine
