Also an introvert. I’m completely comfortable speaking in front of a crowd or delivering a training course. However, put me at an open networking event and I’m most likely to only talk to people I know. I reset my expectations to something I’m comfortable with. I schedule one on one coffees or lunches. I get someone I know to introduce me. And if I make 2 meaningful connections (I don’t do small talk), I was successful.
I sell by getting to know my clients, truly understanding their needs, and knowing my stuff and the rest of the firms offerings. I don’t even think of it as selling, just solving problems.
Agree. And listening is a truly hard thing to do well!
Don’t think you won’t be good at something before you try! You’re only negotiating against yourself and setting yourself up for failure.
A majority of my partners are introverts. That doesn’t stop us building great relationships with clients, helping clients think through their biggest problems, and helping them drive change within their organizations.
I’m an introvert. Many are. There are lots of good reasons not to see this job to its end point, but that’s not one of them.
Have the personality to do it well.. should i consider moving to industry or a tech firm? Also, the $ outside is great as compared to what i make, so its making me consider a decision.. i know this field pays well in the long run and i wouldnt grow as fast as i would here... i am really confused.. any thought/advice/guidance?
