My salary is 160k bumping up to 200k in a few months. Currently my base brings in 13k gross and 7.5K net. My 401k is funded by 1.5K per month. HSA is $300 per month. I save another 1k in cash/brokerage and the remaining 6.5K I spend on living expenses.

Some people call it baristaFIRE - getting a low stress job and be able to walk away anytime you want. I think you are doing a great job. I would diversify and put some in index fund.

$6.5k monthly living expenses seem a little high. It sounds like you have two mortgages? Is one of the condo a rental property?

The 6.5K per month includes only one mortgage. My housing costs are about $2k per month

How did you save so much?

Is it really 300k saved? Most of it is equity in real estate and 401k. Not liquid. Not sure how everyone views this

How is your agency managing the war for talent these days in terms of retention? I’m a little at odds with mine where we seem to be giving promotions and higher pay to any and everyone who gets an offer elsewhere. In the long term I don’t see how it benefits us to have talent with further inflated titles running things they aren’t skilled for. It also makes ppl like me who had no intention of looking want to look just because. Curious what others are experiencing/feeling?

Roast my terrible financial progress but appreciate I’m getting there. I’m 30, $130k base, no debt. Below is my financial layout. Your thoughts:

1. $10k equities all bought in March 20, 20% up. All longs
2. $3,800 into VFIAX adding $125 every Monday
3. Roth 401k $35k. $10k OUNZ, $5k gbtc, $20k VFIAX
4. Roth IRA $25k $10k OUNZ, $10k VFIAX $115 a week auto every Monday, $5k GBTC
5. $30k cash, $5k crypto

Expenses are low and saving $3500 a month. Thoughts, besides hating on my GBTC & crypto?

Could MAYBE live off the $2M. But man, I’m tired of working. But now that my income is high, it seems CRAZY to not keep grinding and saving. But could I take a year to reboot? That feels stupid though.
Any advice?!?

Totally new to this subject, so please pardon any ignorance. How do you recommend best making use of my savings? In my first job out of college, no debt, have about 25k saved between a standard savings account and a brokerage account. I’m able to save about 1-1.5k of my salary monthly.
