A Sr Consultant at Deloitte makes more than an Assurance Manager. An SA in Advisory, too, makes more than an Assurance Manager. In terms of pay it would be a step up, the work will be very different and you will need that experience as a consultant to do well. Don’t rush it. I’ve seen a couple people jump from Assurance to Advisory and totally flop. Be sure its a move you are prepared for
SC in DC would be a step up from SA in PWC. Both in title and in pay. SC in DC is equal to M at other big 4’s advisory arms. SC in Advisory would be equal in title to SA at PwC, but still probably increase in pay.
Advisory (Deloitte and Touché) does more risk consulting type work. Consulting (Deloitte Consulting) does Strategy, Operations, Technology, Human Capital work.
I would take the offer. As a SC in Deloitte Consulting you would be entertaining a range between $90-150k depending on total years of exp, MBA, and certs. I’m sure it will be a decent bump from your current assurance salary.
Screw title. Title is over rated. Call me intern as long as you pay me what I want
It’s a jump and probably better pay
Seconding FE
If consulting or such exit opportunities is long term goal then jump forward for sure, pay bump makes the extra year worth it, only thing you lose is title
D2, you forget Op is coming in with Assurance experience. Not Advisory
I have a heavy tech background and consulting experience under my belt. But stuck in Assurance because of Mgr promo prospects. Can someone shed some light on difference between Sr.Consultant in Deloitte Advisory and Deloitte Consulting?
Advisory has fewer levels. SC in advisory is the 2nd level and usually requires 2 yrs experience. In consulting it’s the third level and requires 4-5 years of experience
So you're making a move from audit to consulting? Definitely do it if you can. Tough transition and different cultures but worth it if you can think you can make it.
Consulting is way better than assurance, I say go for it!
Can you parlay that to an offer in PwC FE? We’re hiring, and we prefer transfers.
D2 - is it easy to fast track for M promotion upon joining DC? Well, of course if you achieve high performance, but what is the likelihood of getting promoted to M within 1-2 years of joining DC as SC.
1 year is not likely and 2 years would mean you are very high performing, already leading teams and taking on high impact Manager level roles (by DC standards) and leading proposal teams/ selling lots of work on top of your normal client responsibilities. Average manager promo is 4 Years, and while coming in with experience helps, it will still be very competitive
Level is equivalent but it might set you back a year or two in terms of promo date
Wth is assurance
SA in Advisory at PwC*
You can fast track to Manager in 2 Years and early promo is easier if you come in with experience, especially with 3 Years at the same level at PwC
So I think you should go for Deloitte
Also agree with P1, I made switch and it worked out cos I absolutely hated accounting and auditing is a joke IMO. Make sure it’s what you want long term not short term jump cos you’re tired of busy season
