Anyone working as a 1099 employee?
Your employer is extremely underpaying you considering you receive no benefits. You should be making per diem rates (usually $8-15 more than a average where I’m from) to make up for your lack of benefits. Also inflation rates have increased 23% since 8 years ago. Based on inflation alone, your pay should be 105K - this isn’t even taking into account your lack of benefits. I would start looking for a new job.
No raises in EIGHT YEARS?!? Get out of there. Like, yesterday.
I think you need to leave personally. What you're describing isn't the norm honestly - and you won't really know what you're worth until you start exploring the job market
Get out! I would look for opportunities that will start you higher…My husband has been working in outpatient for 3 years in illinois and is making more than that. He is at 91K now & started at 85K. He didnt ask for any of the raises…The hard thing about therapy is that there is an income ceiling.
Everyone’s comment here has strong merit. It’s easy to say leave, but the intricacies of life are often harsh and burdensome. I don’t know if you have a significant other, children, sick loved ones you care for, or whether a missed paycheck will make you homeless, but you are here asking a question because you already know the answer, and that is that you are undervalued at your current job. Truth is if you leave tomorrow they’ll fill your role by Monday, but that same thinking should go into the amount of possibilities that may be available to you and your expertise. Set your own value and worth, don’t let anyone else set it for you.
With the unbelievable shortages in rehab you could be making 2-3xs that as a subcontractor in California. Wages in Florida astonish me. You are worth so much more!
Yeah easy $110-120k in CA with benefits. $70/hr on average with per diem in CA.
Way underpaid based on your experience and responsibilities. Brush up your resume and start looking at other places. There’s better opportunities out there with full benefits.
It’s a shame to know that you are underpaid with all those hats you’ve been wearing for all these years. I know area managers making 6 figures in just profit sharing while also having 95-100K pay with substantial benefits. This is in Virginia. I agree with others- you are worth a lot more.
Wow I am sorry to hear how underpaid you are with all you are doing! I am a PTA, clinic director, with 15 YOE and I am making 75k with a 10k productivity bonus.
Have you tried looking for new opportunities? Connect with people on LinkedIn and get in touch with some headhunters.
I would explore other positions and either counter your employer or take a new opportunity. Inflation alone is a great conversation starter to ask for a raise.
