Does work life balance really exists in industry? I so want to get out of audit but then worry what if My next role take a hit due to COVID and bad economy!! 😞😞
Is this me? I’m a second year staff trying to get out after busy season as well
this was me too and i started looking pretty much as soon as i got back to work full time (had leave for cpa school). managed to get out right before busy and i start my new job soon
You can look for SEC reporting roles. You should be able to get a senior position. Your skills in audit are very transferable especially if you’ve worked on public clients. It’s what I left for right after my second busy season
What are the hours like in FP&A? I've heard it can get pretty bad but also be pretty decent, depending on the company. I'm currently in Deal Advisory (FDD) and looking to get out of transactions altogether (and PA) because of the inhumane hours, and was interested in potentially exiting to FP&A, but don't want to be working long hours again so hard to gauge just from reading online
I left after my second busy season. I started interviewing in the summer and noticed that it was easier to get interviews for senior internal audit and senior accountant positions I also noticed the pay offer for senior accountant roles tend to be higher than for senior internal audit roles, especially for a public company
About 104k in total comp (base and equity) and 10k sign in bonus. HCOL area
Following!
I was in a very similar situation as you. This is a copy/paste of the types of roles I looked into after my 2nd busy season:
Transaction Advisory, Accounting Advisory, Forensic Accounting, Financial Analyst, Internal Audit, Risk Advisory
This was my personal order of preference (take it with a grain of salt since everyone is different) and I ended up in Transaction Advisory (TAS).
Depends on specific group but in a word: bad. Looking to get out ASAP. That being said exits can be a bit more interesting and pay is better.
