Here to vent a little: I’m really sick of how freezing office buildings are. I see nearly everyone in sweaters when it’s in the 90s outside! I just wish it could be set at a reasonable temp. I try to set the thermostat in my office where I have to push it to 90 degrees & I still barely get it to be at 70. By the time it does warm up the day is over&next morning I walk into a 60 degree office. I know it’s silly&you can’t please everyone but it’s also silly to run a space heater in the summer
Closing Question- First year here that is Closing a small deal on behalf of a Partner who is out of pocket through Wednesday. All signatures have been received, and Buyer wants to Close Monday, but Seller is also going to be out of pocket with just limited email access on Monday. In order to Close, is the only thing left needed from Seller just a confirmation email on Monday that they agree to release signatures? Would you suggest holding off until Tuesday just in case something random comes up?
I’m a 4yr in AM (fund formations and secondaries) at a v20 in NYC. I’m trying to leave NYC to be closer to family (PNW), but my firm doesn’t have an office close. I’d been planning to approach them after the new year and basically lay it out there with “I’m considering this move, what would it take to stay” (off p’ship track remote, offer to fly to nyc 1 week in office every 6 weeks). I’ve had great reviews and have secondment experience. Any ideas how they’d respond? Market has me nervous.

I am waiting for conflicts to clear on another law firm offer and hoping to give notice this week. I have a lot of work on my plate because I am on too many funds that is not going to be finished in two weeks. Is it fair to let the partners know that I can’t do it as I give notice? Staffing issue is one of the reason for my departure. I'm not sure what the expectations are once you give notice. I don’t want to burn bridges but also don’t want to stay up until 3 am my last few days at the firm.

I just made a switch from a boutique litigation firm to a mid-sized corporate transactions practice. It’s been about 3 months, and I’m simply not meeting the partner’s (understandably high) standards. I love the work, and want to keep doing this, but need to start delivering better work product faster, I just don’t know what I don’t know.

Yes, definitely! I would also start networking while you're still in law school and maybe get in touch with a good recruiter.

Yep and apply to anything up to 3 years experience. Play up your internships. Ignore external recruiters - they’re a waste of time for recent grads.
