Anyone here from Investment Banking at Houlihan Lokey, Evercore or Lazard in London (UK)? I’m currently working in Corporate Finance M&A in GT UK. I’d want to move to one of these banks next year so would like to know about work culture, teams, opportunities, salaries and bonuses. Appreciate your kind help on this

Fire his ass. Unless he’s ACN, in which case DM me and we’ll find a smoother solution.
I think the best course of action is probably to fire him. But if he’s BCG definitely fire him.
Gain consensus with your leadership first. Meaning, bring up the issue with your boss (stick to facts - unresponsive, bad attitude / condescending), and suggest next steps: 1. I’ll address with individual 1-on-1, then if that doesn’t work 2. Either I’ll address with engagement partner or can we address with engagement partner together.
This will help ensure this doesn’t turn into a “he said / she said.” Your goal is for either this person to change, or be replaced by someone who you can work with professionally. That person’s job security shouldn’t be a factor.

Normally I’d say ask him to grab coffee or maybe a drink after work and talk it out, but you could still probably clear the air on a Zoom or Teams video call.
There’s no excuse to condescend to or mistreat a client, but given the constant stress related to Covid and the added stress of being a new parent, he may be overwhelmed and forgetting himself.
Yeah. I’m under orders not to respond to a particular client but I route the email to my superiors so they can respond.
He would not reply to me unless I loop in high level people, and it’s been like this for a bit.
I get where he’s coming from though, I have lots on my plate and at times I lose track - but when I was in consulting I would never treat a client like this, even the slow ones.
Knowing their MD there’s no nice way of me bringing this up without him being rolled off/fired. But I also get really annoyed that he thinks he’s so much smarter.
Never forget to call out rude people
If you feel bad maybe send him a direct email saying you don’t want to do this but if he doesn’t clean up his act this goes up in the chain?

On behalf of all slow consultants...thank you op

Raising this won’t get him fired. He will probably be rolled off and this will be a good lesson for him

I meant kicking them off
Talk to him directly. See it as a first warning. I understand you don’t want to jump the gun with a potential firing on your conscience. People deserve a chance to improve.
It’s great you’re reflecting on this OP.
Assume he’s busy and overworked and perhaps struggling with virtual. Set a quick “coffee" chat with him to check in on the project. Let him know you work directly with client sponsor, and expect X from him. Specifically you’d like to see a much faster response to questions and emails etc.
