I accepted a offer from Deloitte USA for a position in their Analytics and Cognitive practice. The BGC is in progress for last 4 weeks and for the last two weeks there are no new updates/requests. How should I interpret this situation? Is this normal now a days for BGC to take this much time? Or are they waiting and watching the recent market downturn and hence holding the hiring? Any inputs and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
For real though....

Are marreid people more happy to WFH?

The problematic factor is that you have very limited experience. Masters focused on molec and 5 months in the clinical space.
You are definitely under paid, by $20-24k easy…. BUT jumping ship is going to be hard right now and I doubt you’d get a raise only 5 months in.
I’d stick it out to a year and then start looking. You’ll easily find new opportunities after a year in the position and out of school.
Thank you!
For the Austin area that is unfortunately on target. You might be able to get a boost of 10k or so once you have a bit more experience and are able to hop to another company.
Austin is SO expensive. My brothers live there and I can't believe how high everything is.
Agree w/ S1. Based on your post, I can probably guess what network you work for.
If I’m correct, then yes, you’re being underpaid esp since you’re not a nurse, and you’ll continue to be underpaid for the same reason. How productive have you been and how much have you learned in the 5 months you’ve been there? If you want to ask for a raise, you can use that as leverage if you were high performing and productive.
I was you minus a Master’s. I had 10+ yrs of MA (direct pt care) experience going into the job, with no research experience. I have now been a CRC at the same site for almost 6 yrs. Earned my Master’s in Clinical Research Administration last yr while continuing to work long hours as a CRC. What I’ve realized, in a nutshell, (and also what HR actually told me) is that a Master’s (including mine specifically) is not required for my job and it’s not directly applicable to my job. Essentially b/c I’m not a nurse, my Master’s in Clinical Research Administration, for which I chose ALL of my classes to help me in my career, doesn’t apply to my role titled Clinical Research Coordinator. 🙄 Let that sink in. (Sorry for the rant!)
Anyway, to answer your question, no, all CRCs are not hourly. I suggest you bide your time and get some more experience and/or tenure under your belt. It would be better if you can stick it out at your current work place b/c sites are really a great place to get experience in clinical research as a non-nurse and without the heavy expectation from pharma. After a couple of yrs, look into making the move to pharma. As w/ many places, we’ve had lots of turnover and we’ve lost a lot of people to industry. Former coworkers started making about $20k more as soon as they made the switch. Also depended on how much experience they had going into industry.
Hope this helps! Sorry for the long post/rant. Message me if you want more info!
Wowww that’s unfortunate. Thank you!!
Based on your narrative I would say yes, you are underpaid. Asking for a raise while being on the role for just 5 months is a long shot. Try to ask for it before you it a year in the company. By that time I think you will have a bigger chance of getting a good raise or switching to another company.
Thank you! I’ll try asking at 6 months lol
Explore, know the amount you des
To continue, deserve and keep looking while gaining experience. Making a move too quickly could back fire. So hang in there at least for 1 year and keep looking. 2023 will be a good year for you
Unfortunately, Even in NYC a few research coordinators I know make about $10K more than what you mentioned
