I had a boss who was very threatened by me once. I did her job for 6+ months while we were waiting on her immigration stuff to clear - it was so awful and so toxic when she finally joined. On the day I was going to HR (~7 months after she actually joined) she quit the company. I got soooo lucky. Documentation is key. Keep records. Hopefully you guys can work it out or you’re able to find a new team / role! Some people are just bad leaders!
Thanks!

You can leave, but this might not be the only time you face such situation? How about stay and learn how to manage the situation? She may or may not be threatened. I often find folks on the top (in this case your report managers boss) don’t have the full operational understanding so they might have overlooked the actual on ground situation. Second, your manager might be feeling that she wasn’t consulted on the changes made in her absence, and if she owned the project, that’s actually might seem that she was being dismissed/ displaced/disrespected etc. Third, you might have been caught in classic political drama. Managers boss wants manager to feel threatened, and uses the in-house consultant or any junior to get things done in managers absence to showcase capability/superiority/dismissal etc. This happens more than you think and what’s important is to develop the muscle to deal with such situations. I am coming from a place where I was pretty much like you. Wanting to run away at first mention of political situation and ended up working for a corporation which is one of the political driven environment.
Ok I understand that leaving is only one option. FYI I am a mature professional with plenty of exposure to toxic cultures / work place politics. My two previous contacts were with Super teams, I guess my luck ran out. Navigating such situations isn't my strength. Any tips?
