Not in finance but in a business field. If you're talking about for this summer, I'd say the chances of getting an internship are very slim. This is because finance specifically does interviews and releases offers in basically October and sometimes earlier, for the next summer. If it was another business field, maybe you could swing it if they had 10 internship positions and only 8 people accepted so they were willing to let in a freshman, but with finance and at this point in the year, I'd doubt that - especially at the big companies.
That said, it really doesn't hurt to apply to any positions you see, maybe do some automatically sent video interviews to get some practice, but don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Maybe you'll get lucky, but to be quite honest, you probably won't. For next summer, start looking in August once a week or maybe twice a month, and also have some email notifications for the jobs/titles you're looking for. That way you know when they post it and you can be quick to apply. Maybe this summer, do some volunteering or take on a project outside of school work you can put on your resume and also make sure your resume is looking really good and formatted well.
Focus on networking. That way next summer when that internship comes up the recruiters will already know you and you’ll have referrals.
