I am a five year experienced professional I do have an experience into HR generalist activities such as onboarding, exits, employees engagement, little on HRBP, offshore HR services, I am not sure how to go about my career from here I am not getting any new good opportunities. Should I get some certification or change my career. I feel on the same experience levels others are more skilled, even though I have good interpersonal skills but I could never get an opportunity to showcase in the role.

Find a niche that your current employer is overlooking and specialize in it. I focused on executive compensation because nobody wanted to deal with executives and thought it was to complicated. This eventually separated me from the pack and gave me more opportunities. Certificates can help you get the interview but don’t separate you from the pack.

You might need to use some creativity to figure out how to showcase your skills. I would suggest doing a brain dump. Maybe do it with a friend that knows how skilled you truly are in this area. I’d also suggest getting clarity on what you want in your career first. I have a complimentary career clarity cleanse workbook. Let me know if you’d like me to send it to you.

Getting a certification definitely helps and there's study books for it. Perhaps taking on a project in your current role that will help you develop in some additional areas will help you stand out. And I guess lastly, unfortunately it's the people in the job market that know how to sell themselves really hard that get great opportunities. Knowing how to talk up your experience and focus on what you have and not what you don't you may also be very helpful. Good luck.

This is a summary of the 'clarity' question. What you are seeking is clarity. There are a LOT of methods to go about finding, and maintaining clarity... The trick is finding the method that works for you, and using it until it stops working for you. Holler if you want to learn a few! :-) BIGGEST question I will ask: "What do YOU want?" :-)

If your grandma went to a college for a non-mba degree, can she still help you count as a legacy?

So I had an interview last Friday for a contract to hire role that I thought went really well. So up until today there wasn’t a peep from the recruiter hiring for role, so I reached out. The recruiter then asked me how comfortable I was in a fast paced environment. I responded by telling her that after working a mix of agency and client side, yes. I honestly thought the answer was pretty self explanatory. She then pushed for more details, which I provided an example of. Red flag?
