A friend of mine is upset with me because I didn’t participate in a “hot sauce challenge” (yup, gulping down a shot glass of hot sauce) to spread awareness about a disease her mother suffers from. I’ve shown my support in other ways but I was never going to swallow hot sauce. Am I a jerk?

I'm a new mom with a 10 month old. I only work 25-30 hours a week and I'm killing it at work, exceeding my goals, etc. But I feel a little guilty that I just got a promotion and I don't work as many hours as my colleagues. My husband is also a recruiter and works 40+ hours a week. But being able to pick my baby up at 2:30pm every day is worth it. Am I wrong?

I’m thinking about leaving my government job for a matrimonial law firm. I had a baby in January & my husband’s job was hit particularly hard by the pandemic (100% commission based & I was already earning more than him). I am enticed by the compensation & have been unhappy with certain aspects of my govt job lately. But I’m also nervous about billables & firm life (I was a matrimonial lawyer 5+ years ago). Mostly I want to provide for my baby girl & not be stressed financially. Advice? Thoughts?

Hello all! Back again with my failed manager promotion. If any of y’all recall I was passed up for manager bc of my maternity leave. Today I found out someone who was an associate when I joined as an experienced senior got mid year promoted to manager. Needless to say I think I’m jumping ship!

Has anyone had success traveling with a 4 month old? We are debating traveling for thanksgiving this year (5 hour car ride, could be longer with traffic) and would be staying at a hotel. Lots of family will be there who want to meet him for the first time. Is 4 months a dangerous time to disrupt a routine and sleep training?

Has anyone had a vaginal birth and had their doctor clear them after more than 6 weeks? My company pays 100% of maternity leave if for medical reasons, but the rest is unpaid. Wondering if there is any way I can get more than 6 weeks. After my last kid I didn’t even feel semi normal until 6 months, and I can’t imagine going back to work after 6 weeks. Going to talk to my doctor and not looking to game the system, just genuinely curious.

This is just a friendly reminder to write your baby shower thank you’s BEFORE your baby is born. I was like “oh, I’ll have time to write them when she’s napping!” No. There is no time. Write them now.

Looking for hope & exceptions with this situation my inlaw (German citizen) is in. They came over on Fulbright and now is on O1 but in exile back in Germany. I know it’s a long shot but has anyone been in this situation and transitioned to permanent US residency? They are married to a US citizen and have a kid (born in US). Immigration attorneys are not super helpful on precedent.

I was laid off in June. Most consulting companies are on a hiring freeze that I’ve talked to. It’s pretty hard on my psyche to not get down on myself. Does anyone have issues with their S/O not pitching in for food. I currently pay more rent because I make more money, which I’m okay with if it’s proportional, however, my S/O literally never pays for groceries and argues with me when I want to split them or have her pay some. It’s starting to become costly paying for two people, on top of my higher rent payment. Any thoughts here?

My wife is a 5. I used to be a 5-6 too. and I lost weight , earn more money, got better style sense than when we got married and now I’m wondering if I undervalued myself in attractiveness scale. Of course I Still love her so it’s confusing as I can’t help that I feel her face isn’t attractive.
