I am a mid/senior associate on a very large and complicated case (multiple districts, tons of defendants, hundreds of depositions) finding myself spending hours and hours just managing all the moving parts. Making sure people are doing what they’re supposed to be doing, tracking down inconsistencies, keeping track of to do items. How do I bill for these? If i am not careful, I think it is easy to sound like I’m doing admin tasks (keeping track of things) when I am most definitely doing more

When a mid level works with a junior, should the junior send the final product to the partner or the mid level? I am a mid level now, but I started as a junior as part of a growing practice group. At the time, there weren’t many associates in our group, so I always worked with the partners directly. December feels like a country song. Two dogs died on the 1st. A hard rain exposed latent roof damage and collapsed ceiling in two rooms. Stove, fridge and water heater all went out on the same day last week. Yesterday my spouse said they needed a break from the chaos through the holidays and left. Today a positive covid test. And 7 deals trying to close before year end requiring my full attention so none of the aforementioned can get any attention.
