Yeah it is hard to transfer out of audit at PwC they used to made people wait until 2 years. Externally applying is a better bet, just say there said the job was consulting but it was really just IT audit they love to pull that one on new grads.
yes I guess so, definitely got fooled. I think I'll wait for 3-4 months before applying externally, don't want to look to eager to jump
Lol, embrace the opportunity to expand. You just started.
Coming out of B-school I was in EYâs old PI practice. I was immediately staffed on an internal audit engagement in Dubai for O&G. I knew nothing of audit, could speak engineer (am one) for functional interviews and learned a lot about SOX compliance and how to go about sampling, testing, etc. Which is valuable for many reasons: personal, but also cross selling and navigating my space around that compliance.
Itâs hard to enjoy your 20s when you spend 50 hours a week doing Sox testing
did you not learn about what tech risk is before applying, signing, and joining full time đ
What do you mean? That you apply Deloitte to be a Incident Response and end up in Cloud Security somehow?
Iâve heard this exact thing many times. That job title is so incredibly misleading. The bait in this one is real.
Moving to strategy (EYP) is practically impossible from where youâre at right now, but either 1. Have an honest conversation with someone from HR, or 2. Apply elsewhere.
Let your recruiter know this is not what you were looking for. Full on bluff that youâre outta here unless things change. This will force their hand.
If you donât do it early you sound like every tech risk person who got stuck there.
I have personally pulled staff out of tech risk/audit and got them in TC. One of them is now an SM in TC. Donât listen to people who tell you what canât happen.
Same thing happened to me out of college. People love to say âhow didnât you knowâ man was just happy to have a good job. My advice: donât wait too long to get out. IT audit is career suicide.
Same here
Who called it tech risk consulting? That name does not exist here so no idea where you got that from. Itâs IT audit that is just organized under business consulting. The work is never gonna change and Iâve heard itâs been the same for decades. Once you are there for 6 months you are labeled as an auditor so you should raise this conversation asap and be firm about it.
How long did it take to hear back from the firm after you did your HireView interview?
1 week
Why do firms keep lying about It Audit? This is so annoying and frustrating
