I am a newly promoted supervisor who has been with my company for 3 years. The promotion came with a salary increase & I was happy about that.

However, since in my new role I have come to discover that people I am now overseeing have a higher pay rate than I do. Some have been with the company longer than I have, some have not.

Maybe it was my bad for not asking for not negotiating my pay raise, but I am wondering what you would do in this situation?

First-
You should NOT automatically make more simply because you are their supervisor. This is especially true if your direct reports have technical skills that you don’t have, or if they have some other valuable skill or expert knowledge that you don’t have.

But if you don’t see a reason behind the pay differences, you should absolutely consult with your manager to gain a better understanding of the pay structure.

Don’t approach this as “I’m their manager- I deserve to make more money than them.” Instead, you should approach the situation something like this:
“Boss- since becoming a supervisor, I realize that I lack a clear understanding of how our pay bands/comp packages are designed. I’d like to understand this to ensure I’m adequately prepared to manage my team. Can you provide training/guidance/policy for how the company plans & manages compensation?”

There are likely reasons why they’re making more money.
This is a common situation for supervisors

I’ve been in this same exact situation.
It’s frustrating.
My advice? Stay for a bit to grow your management experience for your résumé then leave/apply for other positions.

You could have a conversation with your manager but in my experience.. there’s always
some kind of justification.

What did I do? Stayed, gained experience, promoted, still don’t get paid enough..

I had a really weird interview for Creative Director today.

It’s a small startup. HR interviewed me and asked all the hard hitting questions (how do you get design inspiration, how do you deal with design roadblocks, what sets you apart for this role?) which I thought was odd for a screening interview.

They made some affirmative noises then said the next step would be a design test (one pager) which I would present to a panel of interviewers including the CMO.
Anyone else think this is odd?

I need some legit feedback on what is it like to be a UXD at companies like Accenture?
They claim to do a lot of research oriented designs, as everyone. But is that really the case or it's like some other service based companies where the UX is almost vague, and happens mostly based on what the managers think to be good?

Does UX have any value or it's just drafting wireframes based on ideations by the managers and then UI designs?

I just received a job offer at a company I'm very interested in working for (yay!). Their salary offer, however, is at the bottom end of the range specified in the job ad. In my initial interview, I said that my salary expectations align with the range specified by the ad. So, my question is do I ask for more? Or do I just accept the offer? The company benefits are decent and I would get stock options, and it's fully remote - if that influences your answer.

Interested in any opinions, I have been with my company now for almost a year and have been interviewing with a company that I am pretty sure I will get. I like my current company but because it’s a consultant company and is based on work coming in I found myself not having much work for almost the entire time I’ve been there. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. Approached by 4x recruiters in the last 2 weeks.

Offers are:
180, same role, SME tech sector
200, same role, big MNC (300k employees)
225, senior role, NYC fintech startup
225, different role, Cybersec vendor

Currently 125 with pretty poor benies.

How can I leverage those offers into more comp where I’m at?

I am coming up on a promotion. In preparation, I've done some market-level research for the future position and found the average salary is approximately $30k more than my current salary. I've been with the company for 10 years in various positions, but 2.5 in my current. My previous supervisor would never entertain any negotiations above the offer letter; stating "the offer is final". I've spoken with other colleagues and its not true.

Any advice for negotiations, and how much is too much?

So I work for a multimillion dollar company
Here’s my dilemma. I started as a temp in the traffic department as a scheduler in April of 2021. I was making 44K a year with ZERO benefits.
I applied for a different position in logistics and got the job! BUT is came with a HUGE pay cut. I went from making 44K a year to 32K. I work my butt off and feel like I should be making more for my responsibilities. I’ve only been here a year but I do more than I should.
Is it too soon to renegotiate my pay?
