What is the value prop of an exec mba? I’m not trying to be facetious, I just haven’t really understood its utility. A full time mba from a top school gets you the recruiting pipeline, network, and if you make the effort a chance to upskill in a few different areas. What does an exec mba do?
A2 the difference is the convenience to achieve those things. If a person in an EMBA or part time program actively networks their way to an interview, the rest is up to them. Ofcourse this is easier full time, but it is very possible otherwise.

It depends
Exec MBAs are great if 1. Your company is paying 2. They will promote you to a position only with an MBA. There are no other benefits (many will comment that I’m wrong but they are trying to justify the 200k they lost).
There are some exemptions, of course, but the primary benefit of an MBA is the network and recruiting access, both aren’t applicable in executive programs.
P1: what is the best way to network?
A glass half empty answer so please take it with a grain of salt: An MBA no longer holds the value it once did unless you’re doing it full-time at Harvard, Stanford, Booth or equivalent and joining Wall Street. However, if you did this E-MBA from top 10, having that brand on your resume likely only helps and doesn’t hurt. Your trajectory may not change but it will look good on LinkedIn.
In short, do it if you can manage work, get promoted on time and afford the E-MBA without a $100k student loan.
Lots of variables so there is no right or wrong answer.
True. There are obviously success stories on both sides but you don’t “need” an MBA to make high six figures anymore. There used to be a time when you absolutely needed an MBA.
Are you ok with mostly virtual classes? And the significant spend on tuition and other costs?
Yes. I am looking at it as investment in me. The thought of tuition is physically gnawing at me right now, but I have some investments I can swing.
They have one virtual class and one physical class that they are planning for this year but that can obviously change
Sticking around consulting? Is Big D paying? Are you looking to grow your network in the EMBA? Do you think you'll be able to make BD connections in EMBA that will help your M/SM career at Big D?
BD connections. Big Dick connections. Yes
Hey op, 3rd year SM here. I am also considering the eMBA at Wharton (London campus) and LBS. I still haven’t made my mind since my wife is pregnant and I was saving for a house downpayment.
My main reasons are 1) having a stronger case for becoming Partner. 2) eventually I’d like to move to Europe, so a better network to land a new job. I’m having trouble thinking if it’s worth the money (probably not) but It would make me happy.
This was so helpful Deloitte 3. And we are actually closing a house next month, haha. But yes, it’s the happiness of an education that I really want that is the biggest motivator.
OP - read through your answers. If I were you, I’d skip!
