I am a white gay man and I am looking for companies who prioritize diversity. Being a white guy, this is challenging. I want to show that I am culturally competent, which I am (though, I cannot understate enough that there is always more to learn about cultural competency. I certainly do not speak every language in the world and I have not walked in everybody's shoes, but I will say this is something I have valued my entire life). How can I, as a white guy, appeal to these companies?

Ummm. Just ask in your interview process how the company prioritizes diversity. What policies and procedures they have to remove bias in hiring and promotion? How is success measured... Etc

Having experience and education in the DEI field will appeal to them if you're trying to get a job in that field. certifications are great. If you're just trying to work for a company that values DEI, then do a little research about the company, their public website, their socials, and who they Partner with. You can also ask during the interview process.

Recalling my first onboarding meeting in-house with the c - suite. Thinking back now recalling that they would often mention if someone they are referring to is a woman. For example, "Oh we have these two women doing x, y, and z and they do it well, a well-oiled machine." etc. I was the only woman in the room. They did not mention when someone performing a particular role was a man but they did point out when it's a woman, happened about four times. Odd, no? What would you make of this?

As an indigenous LatinX I worry that if I put indigenous it won’t tick the “diversity” box for the algorithm or recruiters. I work with (not in) the I&D dept at my company and our target recruiting groups don’t include or mention indigenous. Any recruiters here that have insight?

How do you overcome humility at job interviews?
I haven’t been at the market for 8 years, and I am struggling with bragging a lot. I don’t even know where it comes from but I downplay my achievements a lot. I practice Buddhism and bragging is not the best trait for a Buddhist for sure. But downplaying is not a Buddhist trait too.
So I guess the question here is how to reframe bragging into something more acceptable...
