I am about 20 lbs overweight. I have been following a clean diet for the most part and exercising regularly (strength training 2x, walking/biking 2-3x). I tried getting started with HIIT workouts, but I wasn’t able to complete even a 10-minute workout, which really discouraged me. How can I ease into this? And is this normal to feel like HIIT is hard? I used to be able to do 30 minutes of HIIT a little while ago 😢

HIIT is not the magical fat burning solution people think it is. And the vast majority of people who think they’re doing HIIT are not - HIIT is something an advanced athletic would have trouble sustaining for longer than 10-20 minutes. Don’t feel bad or discouraged. Focus on regular strength training and add in whatever form of cardio you enjoy. If that’s “HIIT” (which for most people is actually moderate intensity), that’s fine, but you can get the same results doing 20-45 minutes of the low intensity steady state cardio of your choice.

Honestly…spin is the best thing I’ve experienced for getting into cardio shape quickly.

Also try doing push-ups and lunges throughout the day. I try to get 100 push-ups in a day between calls or at random times (sets of 20)

Just do intermittent fasting start tonight. Go as long as you can working your way up to 16/8 if you can. 16 hours no eating/eat within the window (8). You'll drop the weight easily and continue with workouts.

Saw a job posting for a new dept in a company I want to work for-I am shallowly acquainted with the owner from 15yrs ago and we have messaged each other 2x on LinkedIn over the years. He is a multi billionaire. I am thinking about reaching out to him to ask about the department with the intent to be considered for hire.

Would you consider it rude or impertinent for someone with that shallow of a connection to you to reach out to talk about working for you? I'm unsure if there are SES issues.

I feel really lethargic everyday. It helps if I exercise in the morning to be more active, but sometimes there’s just no time for morning exercise. I’ve been thinking about getting a standing desk to help with this? Any thoughts of this will help? Or something else that might help? Thanks!

I feel that I'm in a mental rut lately. Everyone in my life is celebrating promotions, raises, a great steady relationship, etc. with minimal effort, and I'm starting to realize that every part of my life has been much more struggle to reach the same stage as everyone else. I used to see the good in everything and comfort myself that the struggle/timing are all for good reason, so I hate the bitter version me now. Has anyone else been through this stage and have tips to overcome this feeling?
