Background: 27 Afro Latino Male recently graduated from a State School with a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. After undergrad I worked at McKinsey for 2 years as an EA and was urged to get my graduate degree to pursue consulting. Now 1 year removed from graduation, I’m still having a hard time landing at a good firm. Would having orgs like PP and NAACP hurt me?

Does anyone have any advice for looking more put together? I have started to really notice that my style is frumpy and I am still wearing the same clothes as in my early 20s. Considering jumping ship laterally from an HR Consultant role to an internal HR Consultant / HRBP role. However, mgr has confirmed that I am up for promotion at the end of the year. Total comp increase from switching would be $13k for Year 1, not considering promotion. Should I wait? I do eventually want to pivot to internal talent but worry about the title and advancement.

I’ve been in my role since June of 2020 right after graduating college. I truly cannot say enough good things about my manufacturer but lately, as in the last 6ish months, I’ve truly been questioning whether there is more for me here.

As a 23 year old I know I’m more apt to hop or seek out other opportunities so I don’t want to be rash or just “toy around with leaving because I’m bored”. But at this point, I’ve reached my 2nd coaching (first was 4/2021) and it’s clear my role isn’t for me…..

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.
