How do MBB interviews differ from big 4? What are the big differences? Specifically asking for US.

When a recruiter contacts you to say “your background is of interest to me” for “a role I have been contracted to fill”, have they actually been specifically contacted by the firm, and maybe should be treated more like a hiring manager who is truly evaluating you? Or are they simply matching you to some posting they can see online and trying to set up a recruiting relationship with you? Fine either way, just want to know.

Do you think there’s a glass ceiling for out gay employees? I’ve been with my (now) husband for the last two decades and had three positions. I’ve absolutely excelled in each, winning awards, exceeding goals, working well. But with each position, I’ve had difficulty getting promoted. I even took on the responsibilities of a senior director after his firing and I couldn’t get promoted. My handpicked successor — who I think is an excellent marketer — became a director almost immediately.

I just had an initial phone screen for a new Senior HR Generalist role, and the salary is $10k less than the low number I offered when he asked for my salary expectations. I’m at $85 with my current role, so I asked for $90-$95 for this role. However he told me the salary is $80. I’m really unhappy in my current job so I’m wondering how I can either negotiate for more salary (he said there may be wiggle room) or, explain that the $80 number he offered may be okay, depending on other benefits?

Has anyone else really struggled with compulsion and anxiety/doing things impulsively? My entire life I’ve always gotten away with doing things by the skin of my teeth and feeling a rush from getting away with things. Hi 🐠 ! If I’m 100% new to casing (have a business degree but have been in audit for a year), how long do you recommend practicing case interviews to be strong at it? Is 6-8 weeks sufficient? Would likely be applying for analyst/associate roles. My friends in consulting keep reassuring me that it’s a learned skill but after watching my first case interview ngl I’m pretty intimidated 😅
