V20 with 1900 actual hours? Who is telling you these lies, child?

like

Yeah, my lower Am100 even has a 1900 minimum, but I billed 2400 this year. And not because I especially wanted to. I signed up for 2000-ish.

like

1900 is a floor, not a ceiling. Move if you want but you have to figure out politics, build up credibility, and stay for 1-2 years even if people are ogres. So yeah.

If you were my candidate and it’s not a cheap firm, I’m getting you 50k easy

No. They have a rubric though by class year. Not much of a negotiation

I’m curious what the opinions are on the process they have seen or used to get promoted. I’ve never had it happen in my career this way but in my mind, your work speaks for itself, you advocate for yourself, ask for a promotion when it’s not been offered. Then you get promoted after you make your case if you do qualify. The way I’ve seen it (& a reason I’m leaving my current company) is where they only promote people when they’ve threatened to leave or received a different offer. Thoughts?

I plan on staying at the new job for at least a few years if that makes a difference. Any advice on if taking the job will hurt me down the road?

What factors would you consider for staying back at your firm if they almost match the offer? Key differences - 1. New firm has a bigger brand value. Might open doors in the future for bigger firms. 2. Current firm has excellent WLB and culture. 3. New firm in Metro, current in non-metro. Significant rent increase in metro. 4. Hikes and growth not good in the new firm. If I stay back I’d have the same scenario in current firm as well.
