I am based out of one office but my office put me to work for another office when I joined Of course I got to know the people there and bonded with them. They helped and trained me. My current team in my home office now always rolls their eyes or gets annoyed when I speak of positive experiences in the other office. I don’t speak badly of my office but I’m not going to speak badly of the other office that made me feel welcomed… I kind of feel left out and chewed on both ends. How do I navigate?

Maybe you should stop talking about the other office completely. No need to say negative things but also no need to go on about your positive experiences there.

You should make sure the other office provides feedback for your performance reviews as well. Transferring offices be an option, but you may end up feeling left out and behind there because you are always remote.

You may just need to be more careful about feeding the egos of your local team. They may feel like you don’t like them and don’t want to work with them and only want to work with the other office. They also likely have a lot of pride and think their office is the best. You will build better relationships if you show that you agree this firm and this office is the best place ever. It is like coming from another firm and talking about the other firm all the time. People hate that. It should be different with an office within the same firm but it may not be.

Good luck! I know this is painful and you got put in a tough spot. I recommend focusing on doing what you can to keep this from continuing to impact your performance reviews.

I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem. How do I recover from this?

So I worked from home yesterday and my husband had a sneak peak on my meetings with clients (which I’m very new to being a senior). He mention that I should read some sales pitch books of some sorts so I can get a process down and not be drain from having genuine conversations with every client. I think it’s a great idea. Why do people in m&a tax make so much more than regular / international? Is the work that much harder / more challenging? It seems like they mostly just coordinate with other teams. Basically like jack of all trades but master of none?

Part of me thinks they can charge higher fees because they’re on a transaction and seen less as a “cost” center. On the sell side they’re helping generate revenue and on the buy side they’re doing the same, although not immediately
