I am curious what the average pay range for underwriters in the life space is? I’m currently in senior management for an Insurtech start up, but have always wanted to get into underwriting. What I’m reading shows the average salary is around $68k. Is this accurate?

For those who did full-time MBAs, was it worth it from purely an investment perspective? Specifically those who paid for their MBAs themselves. How much did your comp change pre-MBA to 2 years post-MBA?

Maybe I’m just in a good position early in my career (27) but I’m having a hard time seeing how at my current TC of $170k it would be beneficial to take 2 years off work and that I’d make more after an MBA than I would if I just continued working during those 2 years. Input greatly appreciated.

How do you determine you hourly rate for freelancing? I recently got a huge salary boost. Old coworker is asking if I can do 8-10 hours a week for couple months to help his new company get off the ground w some products. If I were to take my salary into consideration, I’d ask for around $100 an hour. I used to think freelance should be more than my salary calculated hourly. But I think my old coworker and his new boss would scoff at $100 bucks an hour, they’re probably thinking $30-40

About to receive an offer from a company similar to my current but w/a Senior title. The compensation is only slightly better but I like the product better and could use a fresh start. I was recruited for the role, as I was planning on waiting til after I moved to a new state to start a job search.

I think I can do better than the new company, but won't have time to start a legit job search for a couple months. Will it hurt me to jump ship, start a new job but then start applying elsewhere?

Currently negotiating compensation GC role for a real estate developer based on NYC. They have about $500MM is AUM including new hotel in Times Square, a 10-story B-office building in Chelsea and condominium project still hinder construction in TriBeCa. Claims manager salaries - curious what claims supervisors/ managers are making out there. I manage a team of 8 adjusters and make 100 plus bonus fully remote. I feel extremely underpaid.

I recently got a promotion in my company to work as a Junior CSR in Commercial Lines but I also got a job offer elsewhere to work in the entertainment insurance industry as an Associate. I got the RIBO license in January. The job offer pays more than my promotion but once I told my manager I had this offer she said they are willing to match that offer, however I wouldn’t see an increase in salary for a while. I don’t know what to do because both jobs sound really interesting. Any advice?
