What is 8:1:1?
New York middle school said it perfectly
It's a classroom that will be so full of love you can't believe it. But you will be teaching life skills basically. I did my student teaching in an 8:1:1. I loved those kids so much. For me, I really want to teach at a much hugher level- I love my subject (should have gotten my doctorate and tried to teach at the college level) - for this reason, an 8:1:1 setting would not give me the fulfillment I would want or need. But, I did love my students, I loved the staff- you do need to know how to manage people, because you will need to manage the paras, which can be tricky. In the school I worked in - and from what I have seen in other schools, the self contained SpEd teachers are pretty well left alone and NOT micromanaged. So that's a plus.
You are a very eloquent person
It’s extremely rewarding. The best part is it puts your personal life in perspective 🤔
Thank you
I teach 8 students with severe disabilities all have 1:1 support. I absolutely love seeing the joy these kids have and trying to get them to achieve their inchstones is sooo rewarding. I don’t think I could teach any other kind of SpEd.
I teach in an 8:1:1 and I would never do anything else. I love it!
