Any openings for Mechanical Design Engineer
100% I would rather have a higher base and less commission. I like the consistency of higher base salary.
Higher base, lower or capped commission. I prefer to have that cushion, just in case there's a bad week or month. I don't want to be relying on my commission to survive and have the rug pulled out from under me.
Fair base, set on the expectations of the position (i.e travel, professional expertise, stress) and capped or uncapped potential on sales commissions. Note that I have had both and the most money I’ve ever made was on a capped program. Weird, right? Now I know how that is possible. Back then I thought uncapped was the money maker.
I’m going to go against the grain here. I prefer to take a lower base with uncapped commission because it has a higher earning potential and I believe I can deliver. / it’s that extra motivator.
I budget everything to stay within my base. And then the commission goes towards savings / extras
Same here. You’re in sales to make more than your boss. You only do that through commission! 💰
I like 60/40. A base salary sufficient enough to live on with no commission but a healthy enough commission plan to have plenty of upside.
Rising Star
Cash is king right now, higher base so I know I can pay my bills without dipping into my savings on a bad month. At this point in my career, I’m not 40 yet but I’ve spent half my life in sales and I can’t take the stress and pressure of a low base or commission only, whew
I would go for a higher base salary. I prefer to have a consistent pay. Relying on commission will give you anxiety. Commissions are like spring, winter, summer and fall. They are seasonal.
Just curious, what the salary range for this position now? Atlanta, GA
I would have a higher base salary, keeping the pressure off.
