A job is a job. You’re going to have over 10 in your lifetime (at the minimum) but you likely won’t have 10 kids. Enjoy this new chapter of your life without focusing on the other chapter. & if all else fails, squeeze those baby cheeks & snuggle up because baby love can never fail you!

like

Of course! I don’t know your specific situation but it doesn’t sound like your current job is bringing you happiness as it is. See a potential layoff as a blessing & an opportunity for you to spend time with your baby that you’ll never get back if you went back to working.

like

You can always find another job. This is even IF you get let go. You may not get let go! But don’t lose the chance to bond with your child. You’ll never get this time again.

If you like your job and want to keep it, reach out to your manager and have a frank conversation about your concerns BEFORE your target return date. You’re not alone, and part of your manager’s job is to help you navigate things like this.

like

That’s a legit concern, you thought about it, processed it, next is to think of what you can do about it (ie slowly brush up on resume and interview skills) and finally, accept what is out of your control (potential future lay-off). The reality is, no matter what happens and when, you will find another job.

They won't lay you off before you return from maternity leave. Also, if you are worried about being laid off, look to see what's out there now and prepare to apply to jobs once you're back. And, if you're laid off, you'll get severance and will be able to go back to spending time with your babe! Please don't focus on the negative, like someone else said, it's just a job!

I have about 15 years of experience (all in HC PR) and at various times in my career have tried to pivot to other types. How can I pivot without taking too much of a financial hit.

Anyone tried or have a Tonal? Thoughts? How are the class? Do you feel fitter after using it? How long are workouts? How often are you using it? Is it addictive and fun like peloton? We have a peloton, which we love, but aren't disciplined enough use it consistently. Need to get back into the fitness game now that the pandemic is over. Like the gym / classes, but the time saving aspect of at home workouts is great and better for us right now with baby. Might get this as gift for hubby.

Moms, how do you keep connected with your children while working consulting? I just started working full time after the birth of my first child (which was 3 years ago lol) and been worrying if eventually this job will take its toll on my relationship with my children. Is it actually doable to be a consultant and maintain a healthy relationship with kids?

Anyone have a chase sapphire reserve and have to file the delayed baggage claim? My flight lost 3/4 of my suitcases today and I’m confused with the claims website. It’s asking for the value of the items purchased as if the luggage is lost, but at this point it should still be considered delayed.

I’m the one whose ex won’t pay for college - and I have an update. My ex texted me today that he and his wife are buying our son a car (!!) for Christmas. On the one hand, it’s one less expense for me. On the other hand, my ex won’t pay for college and he owes me at least $10K for previous medical expenses, but he can find money for a car - which is a “fun” expense that will get him brownie points with our son. Whatever - my son benefits, but talk about a “Disneyland Dad.” Ugh.

1. I’m a pandemic hire at this new agency and I like it enough, but I feel SO detached from all these humans I’ve never interacted with IRL… like, I just don’t give a flying fuck about these team-building zoom calls. :( 2. My boyfriend and I often just go off cam / mute during the more useless meetings and have sex instead. I secretly hope everyone who is muted/cam off in meetings is getting some action.

I’m currently making ~105k, which means I should make $158k to maintain my standard of living. My standard of living currently is that I’m single, have a one bedroom apartment for $1700/mth + utilities, no pets and no car. I like to cook during the week, and dine out on weekends. Prefer workout classes to a standard gym. Is this CoL accurate?
