So my husband is a lawyer also. I’m 5.5 months pregnant and my husband started a new job in January. In his interview/negotiation phase they verbally said that the firm offers parental leave etc etc. welllllll come to find out he has absolutely 0 leave. The firm doesn’t offer leave to anyone (except disability for the birthing parent). Not even 1 day for the birth of his own child. We’re sad but also angry. Has anyone dealt with this? We don’t even know how to go about this.

I know it won’t make a big difference in the payslip as it’s a taxable benefit but is it worth keeping the private medical in the UK? All this time I’ve never used it and we need to go through the NHS first anyway for pretty much everything.

Jumped into a new role, less than week two in, gut intuition is on high alert with all the red flags popping up, this isn't worth the 50% salary increase to live in hell right? Well, got my annual physical, and I have high blood pressure, just shy of hypertension. I work out, eat very healthy and I’m fairly young. I think the likely culprit is the stress of producing because they found no other health reasons that would cause it.

Has anyone else in the bowl dealt with HBP related to work stress? If so, was there anything you did that helped address it? As stressful as it is, I love producing, and I don’t like the idea of leaving the field if I can manage it.

I’m a nurse of 9 years looking to break into health informatics. I’ve held roles at the bedside, nurse leadership, and quality improvement. I have a MHA with a specialization in Informatics but the program didn’t have a practicum. I can’t sit for my Nursing Informatics certification because I don’t have hands on hours. Does anyone have experience transitioning from bedside nursing to Utilization Review? Most of the positions I’ve seen require previous UR work to even be considered. I tried talking to my current employer about cross trading and was told they won’t train anyone to those positions. TIA.
