I am currently working as a government contractor while also getting my masters degree. My goal is to pivot to a career in management/strategy consulting. At the time I’ll apply, I’ll have 3 years of work experience working on special projects. Should I apply for associate or senior associate positions? Additionally, any advice on networking/applying would be appreciated

It’s never to early to start applying and getting out there! This will make your pivot smoother.

Here’s a super simple formula for networking:

GOALS
What do you want?
Income? Remote or a specific city? Role? Responsibilities? Benefits? Work schedule?

PEOPLE
Who can help you get what you want?
Identity 5-10 companies you want to work for
Then identity 10 individuals in each company who would be influential in the hiring process

OFFER
How can you help?
You need to show people what’s in it for them. Not just what you can take.
You can offer value to individuals and companies in two ways:
Contribute to their current or future vision
Or
Solve a current problem(s)

OUTREACH
How to reach out to these people?
Cold outreach, sending a message with no previous contact
Warm Outreach, sending a message with some previous contact.

It wouldnt surprise me if you were able to start getting conversations and offers coming to you in 6 weeks if you start this process.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

Anyone have any for tips on transitioning from US private sector to practicing law in Europe for a non profit? I am US/EU citizen and qualified in US and UK via QLTS.

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

Does anyone regret joining a boutique consulting firm? I signed with a startup out of college (spring 2020) whose founding partners were all partners/Sr leaders at a few T2s. Our firm is super small (dozen FTEs) but does really good work (we charge premium rates and work super cool projects). I’m just having second thoughts as exit opportunities aren’t as prevalent as I thought, the pay/benefits don’t match industry/risk of joint a startup, and I’m not getting the network of a Big4 or MBB

We are not looking for any private information, but more anecdotal evidence of issues that can be improved.

It's now been 3 weeks since the interview and I still haven't heard back from the team other than the odd HR email saying they are following up with them. Is there something going on internally, I.e hiring freeze in the London office atm?
