I am editing my resume and would like to know how far back should you work history go? I have things that refers to retail and serving jobs and don’t know if that is just too much information.

Shape it so it offers value to your experience. Don't need details or list as another role in agency environment, but at the bottom of your resume could include a line like "service industry experience in retail and restaurant industries for X years, yielding experience in high stress, customer service focused environments" - unless it adds value to the role you're applying for you don't need to include.

likehelpful

Definitely don’t include that - not relevant to your current career. As someone who still works in hospitality as a side hustle, id recommend having a separate resume if you’re still trying to pursue those types of gigs

like

Like all of the others have said above, you should only put the experience that is relevant to the job you’re applying to.

Opt for relevant experience only, and as for how far back you should go, unless you are pursuing leadership positions, 7 years or so should suffice for individual contributors.

How long is too long to wait for a raise? I've been waiting seven years and have had 2 title (and responsibility) promotions since the last raise. My manager says I deserve it and am long overdue. The CEO says we "can't afford it" and that "there are things that matter more than money." That's easy for someone not living paycheck to paycheck (during an inflation crisis) to say. I don't know what to do. How long is normal to wait? Especially with an employee's market like this?

Received a verbal job offer on Tues. $5k short of what I had said was my desired range but still up from my current salary. We set up a call for Thurs to discuss further. On Wed they sent me all benefits info. Thursday on the call I asked if we could either increase moving stipend or get closer to my desired salary. They said no, and I asked them to send over written offer and I would let them know by Fri. They then email they are no longer offering me the position and repost it the next day:

Hey y’all. What’s a lateral move? A recruiter reached out asking if I was open to a lateral move. I don’t know what that means. Halp???

I just got an offer (woo!) and was planning on signing it tomorrow AM and giving my two weeks. Problem is two weeks from tomorrow is the 2nd. I have the 1st and the 2nd scheduled off as PTO. I already have a 4th of July trip booked and need those days off. Is it rude to not be able to give a full two weeks? How should I make note of that when I give my two weeks tomorrow?

Thanks!
