They may not be set up to do that. Just thinking there are some legal and regulatory hoops to turn on that benefit.

You are correct. I’m trying to see if anyone has evaluated this option and had any success or points to share about it.

You should be negotiating a total compensation package that is comparable, or ideally better, to your current total compensation.

Ah. No I haven’t. Sorry, that wasn’t helpful. Good luck!
Couldn’t you just max out your 401k and get a sign on bonus? Really the same thing as long as you can afford to max it out between now and end of year (which you should with the signing bonus in cash...)

I already max out my 401k every year out my salary. By losing unvested contributions, I can’t add more than the limit even if they give it in cash. I don’t need the cash and want it in my 401k, growing. I realize I can do this with an investment account as well, which is another option, just exploring this one.
Honestly that’s the least of ur worries. U can max out ur contributions n be cool with it. See the rise you get, ask for a handsome signing bonus which should take care of the ‘Employer Contribution’ for a couple of years.
Op did you get a big fucking raise? To compensate for crappy 401k .

Yes, bonus structure is also more lucrative.
