Top MBA programs can be game changers. That said, remember that this app is 100% an echo chamber. Many more people have done great things and led happy lives without even giving an MBA a passing thought.
No. It’s not necessary. None of it is.
No it’s not necessary, it’s just the most conventional way to change industry’s. If you wanted you could probably network your way into tech, it might not be a faang company, but you could still pivot into tech. People on this app care way too much about prestige and just do what is going to better your life
Depends on where you’re coming from and where you want to go. I don’t think any big tech require MBAs. But I do know a lot of friends from my MBA who came in without any tech experience and were able to leverage the on campus recruiting to land a solid job at all the big tech firms.
Rising Star
Definitely not necessary, but can be helpful in making a clean pivot. 1/4-1/3 of my program typically exits in into Big Tech, many from non-tech backgrounds.
MBA is like an insurance. It may not be useful when everything is going right in life but if one falls through the cracks, MBA can help come out a bit faster. Of course, MBA from a reputed B school. Rest I knw tech folks who have done a lot better in life without MBA.
That’s some expensive insurance.

If you want to exit to tech, then get certifications in one or more of the following:
AWS, Azure, GCP, Salesforce, Kubernetes, OpenShift (all hail our RedHat overlords), ServiceNow, Hana, an IoT platform, DevOps, Agile, etc.
A good cert in one of those platforms will get you into tech at a much lower cost than an MBA.
I would lean more toward the Cloud Provider architecture certifications, but that is me.

Oh, I didn’t even study IT in college. I have a Liberal Arts degree.
Don’t do it
