I had a fur baby for 12 years and I continue to serve street pups so I guess I can say a few things. 1. Do not leave them alone in the house, someone needs to be around them 24*7, it is a small life for them already, dont make them more anxious 2. As the baby grows, there will be a teething stage where it will bite furniture, shoes, anything it can grab including your hands. It can get painful but wont wound you. Better is to get your pup soya chewsticks, so that he is busy, cover the furniture legs and lower parts with more cloth layers, keeps shoes out of reach of him. 3. Try to pee and potty train from a young age, so that even if you can't take it out , it should take a cue and go to the washroom and do it. Cleaning the washroom is easier than the bedroom right? 4. Based on the breed, check everyday for ticks, lice in the neck, ear, chest and butt area.(dont touch the tail) Clean your dog every time you come after a walk. 5. Vaccines every year, vets can elaborate on that 6. Personally I feel dog food is not worth it, but some owners do opt for that, its your call, they do fine in home food also but there are some limits no masala,no chocolate, no onion etc, research and make the choice. My fur baby had minced boiled meat with rice during the day, chapati milk/milk in the night. You will also have to do portion control 7. Bath the dog once every 15-20 days depending on fur quantity
8. There are seasons for fur shedding, you will have fur in everything you own. Be patient and consciously clean around you..wet hands are enough 9. Do not mindlessly give up your dog for breeding, it's inhumane. Do your research 10. If you are getting a female pup, she will have a heat period every year post maturity where she will bleed similar to menstruation in women. Same drill, don't exert her, no excess physical activity, just let her rest and take care of her on her own. Males on the other hand will become aggressive during the mating season(females also fyi), so they also need to be left on their own 11.brush their teeth regularly 12. Clipping nails at home is a bad idea for dog beginners as it can cause nerve bleeding if done incorrectly, I recommend taking it to a vet to get that done
These are a few pointers i can remember as of now. Hope this is helpful

Don't chain your dog
Hello! Dog mom here. It depends on what breed you're planning to have. But as a universal tip, don't feed them bones. It will hurt their stomach because they would not be able to digest them.

Treat the dog like your kid. Please don't lock them up in Kennel.
Baby or adult dog
to save up on dog food, let them eat cooked chicken liver. they are gonna love it and it's not going to cost much
It’s your baby. Please don’t get one if you cannot take proper care of it. You’re going to love it more than anyone and anything else in the world.
Tips- Regular grooming and exercise as per its breed and size, don’t lock it in the car, fresh food and water, lots of love 💕
Please make a list of foods that dogs can/cannot eat.
