I am going to join a new company in a month. My baby is 1 year old. Being a mother i am afraid how would i cope up but at the same time i am thinking of progressing my career as i am there in my current company for past 6 years and it is a good time to switch (given the market hikes at this time). Any suggestions on how i could manage my new job and mommy life together?

Why do slavery, don't join and chill for life. Humans are meant to explore and live stress free.

Do enough reasearch about WLB in any organization you want to join. Dont hesitate in asking for help from others - may be someone in your family. At work once you join a project tell them openly that you can put in your share of work but going extra mile might not be possible for you. Fortunately most work places understand struggles of new mothers.

Thank you. Yes i can set the expectations right from day 1.

Join the company. Most companies will have decent work environment for young mothers.
You should be more concerned about the situation at home,. How will those things work.

It is the passion that drives women. I am seeing many woman in my team with 10/11 months baby performing lot better than their team mates. Its just the interest, passion you have towards the job that drives you. Nothing much difference between new company or in same company you move to another project. Even if you retain in the same company all your team mates will move on soon in current market situation. Even if they ask you to WFO , now adays most of the IT companies have creches so you have even choice of having your baby near you.

Anyone other staff feel like the biggest contributor to stress during busy season isn’t the workload. It’s the lack of support or help while you’re just thrown into the deep end not knowing how to swim? In-charges, especially the newly promoted ones are either hit or miss or they’re way too busy with their own work. I almost feel like I’m ready to quit because no job is worth the mental health sacrifice.

Any advice on how to handle an ECD in charge of your salary who says the only way to get a promotion or even a COL raise of any kind is through winning an award? And yes, I’m aware leaving is always an option, but eager for any other advice how to navigate.

For those who already have a baby - I (36f) just had a baby 6 weeks ago, and my wife (33F) is now back at work (WFH) and I’m still on leave. Since I have the baby all day and get up with her all night, my wife basically “takes over” baby duty when she stops working. The problem is that within an HOUR she has lost all patience with the baby. She gets frustrated so quickly if the baby is crying and will say things like “I’m just going to let her cry since nothing im doing helps” (cont)
