I feel the same way; I wish there were more positive sentiments from more teachers. It’s
a great career.
Amen!!!!!!
There are some positives to online teaching that in person can’t offer. Try to look at from a different perspective.
I do agree with that statement. My students are using the technology on their phones better than ever before!
They have proven to be better advocates for themselves and have come to enjoy using their handheld devices and computers to participate in in-class discussions and to submit in-class assignments.
I was sure to integrate technology from the beginning in case we went digital again, but I can say that my class is functioning more smoothly and there are no excuses for not submitting an assignment. The benefits are noticeable and appreciated! I have learned a lot from the experience, and my students are more prepared now than I ever was for college.
The selfish part of me just wants to see those kids and take part in their learning together. ❤️

Thank you to all of the teachers working in person. You are superheroes and heroines!
YES! Yes we are, and we need to always keep in mind that we are the most valuable person to a number of students. They are relying on us, and we are rising to the occasion. We are more impactful than we ever give ourselves credit for.
I had a team meeting this morning and ended up crying because I was so overwhelmed and stress with expectations from admin. The meeting ran late and my students were waiting outside of my classroom. I was not ready for them to come in. I sucked in a deep breath and they walked in and told me good morning with warm smiles. That made my whole day so much better, knowing that I was teaching an awesome group of students. I taught, they learned, and we laughed. This is an rewarding profession despite all the politics.

I agree with you, though I don’t teach high school. There were a lot of sacrifices teachers had to make for in person learning. One sacrifice was your own health. Sadly I didn’t make it through the semester without catching Covid, but I knew that going into it. I was a lucky one and am back and healthy. I think... lol. Anyhow, in person instruction is so critical, especially the younger the students are. I feel like our class has bonded more than ever because all we’ve had is each other (due to cohorts and contact tracing). This is year 27 for me.
Also- I recognize virtual teachers made sacrifices too. We all have. They are just different sacrifices and we need to recognize and respect that.
Definitely! I have so much respect for online teachers because of my experience with emails and the expectations of administrators and parents.
Overall, my student participation was low and parents emailed relentlessly to determine why their children were not passing. I composed countless emails detailing the reasons— while a majority of my students continued not submitting assignments.
I can’t imagine teaching solely online right now as a trial run for constant virtual learning for students who may not necessarily prefer learning with technology. I applaud all of those teachers and you.
27 years is incredible, and those students are lucky to have a teacher like you! Thank you for your sacrifices, and, more importantly, thank you for you positivity, open-mindedness, and love!
Lol how many years have you been teaching?
I student-taught at my current workplace. The students I taught during that experience graduated last year, so while I have been here for nearly five years, I am in my fourth year of teaching.
What school district?
At the time, it was Paulding County
