I am happy being single, but I wonder if I will regret focusing too much on my career instead of seeking out romance. Does anyone feel this way? Context: I am 27 and never had a serious relationship.

Are you male or female? 27 is a while to *never* have a serious relationship, but is much more manageable if you’re a guy as you have more time on your side

like

Lol what does this even mean "more time on your side"!? For one men statistically die years before women and two if you are inferring having kids there has been bucketloads of research to prove that beyond 35 men's sperm is just as damaged if not moreso damaging to becoming pregnant than womens' ovaries. So actually you have the exact "time on your side" - if not less- than women

likefunny

Never!?! Damn that sucks. Relationships are pretty important and they change aspects of you you’re too scared to change on your own. It’ll also be a massive red flag to whoever you date that you’ve never had a serious relationship

Would it have hurt to have added something encouraging?

Your first 3 words said all I need to hear. Do you be happy. I assume you have friends and other social relationships?

like

I know people who are in their mid 40s and are completely fine on their own. If you are happy, then don’t worry about it! Focus your time and energy on what you like and don’t get pressured into anything

like

Why not do both? It doesn’t have to be one or the other. You should leave work at work when you clock out anyway so you have a balanced life. In general, it’s just not healthy to live and breathe work. If you want any kind of meaningful relationships (whether romantic or friendships), you’ll need to pursue and invest in those. Your employer might be great, but at the end of the day, they do not care about you on a personal level. Seems like a simple answer to me.

Yes. 42 y/o single lady here. Multitask.

Leo Burnett Detroit?

I got an offer as a Principal IS Architect (Level 6) at Amgen and my comp is as follows: 180k base, 15% Target Bonus, 25k Sign-on, 25k New-hire RSU (vests 4 years), 20k Annual target RSU (SF based salary).
1st-year comp: ~ 276k
2nd, 3rd, 4th years: ~251k

This is a remote role. I want to know if I am being lo-balled as I expected the 2nd year onwards comp to be at 260k+.

Hi fishes, I have a question. If you are investing in stocks or mutual funds and also LIC from India and get an opportunity to work abroad, what changes need to be done to the bank account from which the amount is being deducted monthly automatically for these investments. Is it okay to send money to this account wherein money will continue to be debited or do I need to link these investments to an NRI account, which I think can only be opened after min 6 months spend abroad right? TIA!

So apparently EY believes that moving to unlimited PTO will provide a first mover/differentiator advantage amongst the big 4.. I’d advise Deloitte, PWC, and KPMG folks to let EY stand alone on this one! None of us asked for this and they are doing it primarily to reduce PTO accrual liability for layoffs/in states where employers are limited in taking away earned PTO

Non solicitation clauses in employment contract, are these a cause for concern? Leaving my B4 firm soon, but found out that my contract specifies that i cant poach people from the firm for 2 yrs and this makes sense. But the puzzling part is client non solicitation; which says i cant work for any of my clients from the past 2 yrs, for next two years. Says that if found, i will owe Xx% of the engagement fee considered lost? Is this crazy?
