It’s trial and error. Different meds work better for different people. Speak to your mental healthcare provider is the best advice I can give you.

It’s a fluid thing and takes a lot of trial and error. Everyone reacts differently to each medication, the same medication at different doses can feel really different, and the same medicine at the same dose can feel different over time. So just keep checking in with yourself and don’t just accept feeling not great, talk to your doc.

I tried ritalin and it didn't work for me at all. The crash when I would come down from it was just too much. But like everyone said above it really depends on the person.

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

I forgot to take my medicine today. I realized it once I got into the office. I noticed my brain is extra sluggish and cloudy. So I checked my emergency at-work pills and I forgot to bring more. It would take over an hour to go home for meds and come back to work. I hate getting in these situations trying to figure out if I just stick it out at work, drive home and back to work, or call it a lost day and go home and back to sleep. It’s so frustrating that one change in routine can ruin the day.

How do you approach the initial conversation with your doctor? I have taken a variety of both anti anxiety and anti depressants. Nothing works. I’ve been on the same dose of Vyvanse since fall 2019. It still works. I notice a difference when I don’t take it. But I think I miss the rush I used to get when I would feel my meds kick in — like I could handle anything and I knew my meds were working. Or is this just what it feels like to be “normal” now?

My job (biglaw, finance, midlevel) is a poor fit overall — both in the adhd sense and more broadly in that it doesn’t really play to my strengths. I am also your usual high achieving people pleaser (such a common species in this job). The combination of all of the above means I am unhappily slogging uphill to be a B/B+ associate in a job that doesn’t interest me in the least. I am planning to make a change in the spring.
