I use H&R Block free version and I’ve always been able to e-file state for free. I haven’t done the crypto yet but you can always do everything but that, figure out when is to be paid or refunded, and fill that one out by hand if it isn’t that hard and just mail that one particular one. I’ve done that in the past

A single TurboTax deluxe download will prepare 5 for $40. Might charge more to Effie after the first.
I always paper file my state returns because I’m cheap too
PSA: CashApp (Square) allows you to e-file Fed and 1 state for free (with NO income limit), and the best part is it supports ALL essential middle class forms like 1099s, Sch A, Sch D, HSA with no extra cost. I am happy that I found my solution. Also, if you download it using my code and you’ll get $5.

It really depends how simple the returns are and the income range.
Seems like you will need to report capital gains? That requires additional forms, which most tax softwares charge for (i think some softwares wave that if it's lower than 10k, but I could be wrong).
If it's just a w-2, then you may qualify for free filing, but it depends on the amount too. In my case, I just had a w-2, so I used Taxslayer free filing (grants 1 state free return per account).
You can check "IRS free filing" for a list of tax software programs that partner with the agency for that purpose and their criteria (keep in mind it will be mainly for free federal prep, not state).
Also, you can check each individual state tax agency site for the same. They also partner up with tax software companies to offer free filing.
Nvm i googled it. Not free.
