I am humbled and in a state of shock. My best friends father (who is a client) has spinal cancer and been given a very short time to live. No bullshit jokes on this please, just tell me what VA will give me the best DB.

AXA Accumulator has a 5% with the 40% enhanced DB. You would be limited to 70/30. DB stacks. This would be my first choice. (only shitty part is you have to buy the LB too). Or you could go for Jackson like Helado says and take 5% and guarantee the principal as the DB. OR do the flex and do the 5% DB , but it doesn't stack on the account value. There is an enhanced DB too. Nationwide has a 5% DB as well. You have unlimited equity like Jackson, but the DB doesn't stack either.

Dare I say Jackson with the combined LB/DB, with income starting immediately?

This is a tough situation. If he has such a short time to live, what would be the point in a death benefit? There would not be enough time for any meaningful upside anyway. I would just choose something with the principal back death benefit and swing for the fences with the allocation.

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

Noob question here but realized I sent out an email with a brief typo to a client meeting chain. I said “Out” instead of our”. Is this like a big deal? What certifications are good for technical project manager? I was thinking to start with PSM and PSPO and then move to ITIL, ITSM. Not sure about this though. Not planning to do PMP as I think it’s more waterfall focused. Was also thinking about AWS. Any other certifications recommended?

How do you deal with a teammate that creates unnecessary work for themselves and others and then acts passive aggressive towards the team? Example - MD has already reviewed and signed off on the document and their feedback was incorporated. Teammate then takes 3 hours to change a ton of the content before sending to client.

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!

Need some advice - been at the D for a year and have been on the same implementation project for over a year. Have a technical background and am thinking of starting to look for exits to industry but also am curious what strategy projects are and if I would be interested in the work. Is it worth networking onto a strategy project at the D or should I just continue to look for industry exists and then go b school and then try for MBB/T2 ?

Hi there! For the last 20 years, I’ve been in project/program manager roles. Most recently, I spent the last 12 years in a learning development role managing the development of sales and technology training. Also, facilitating and partnering with sales on the development of Hunter workshops and sales/Pre-sales new hire training. I’m looking to switch careers to being in sales as an account manager / sales development rep. Advice on how to get interviews in this new dream role?

I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued
