Why do you want to become PPD? Serious question. As for areas of tech: look into cloud based applications.

Hot new tech doesn't help you become PPD. Selling and closing $MM visions for profitability and revenue growth do.

@Deloitte 4, I get your point. Here I am selling the most deals and our team has been >100% util for last 6 yrs. Now I still dont have numbers that others have selling very few gigs but in different tech space. The only way i see is to reinvent otherwise the numbers will never be compelling enough to move up.

@Deloitte 3, I have stayed (13 years) in consulting with the hope to reach PPD. If i dont, i would really be sorry for all the opps I had passed hoping to make it to PPD. I think i have learnt a lot about the role but dont have enough sales or large projects to be competitive at that level.

How many associates don’t have access to their full billing software? All I can do is input my time and create a recap of hours report for different date ranges. No ability to check on amounts billed to clients or receipts so there is no way to track my realization rate or progress towards bonus. Is this something I should bring up with the managing partner?

Is getting to the principal / associate partner / director level first helpful towards finding a good non-consulting exit, than exiting at the manager level? Hearing conflicting testimonies. One group tells me the options will be VPs / senior directors and will be a lot more lucrative so worth the wait. The other group tells me that exit options gets more competitive since you are gunning for more limited spots against MBB associate principals so chance of landing an offer gets really low…
