I am in-house at an insurance company and have decided to completely transition out of the insurance industry. I have registered to take the CIPP/US exams but was advised to take CIPP/E too. What else should I be doing? Potentially looking at entry privacy in-house corporate counsel positions.

Hate to break it to you; but it would be highly likely that you would find quicker a job in privacy at a big insurance company.

Transition would be faster, and you have the background that matters. FS is very regulatory specific, and most privacy folks are too inexperienced with FS regs.

Mind you; there’s some interesting startups too, especially ones heavy on data. Again, you’d be perfect for them if very well versed on newest platform as a service models and data crunching.

Drop me a note if you need a sounding board.

If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.
