I am in job searching mode, given what LinkedIn has become is still a good platform to post for looking new roles? I see people with the green open to work for months and months…..

I know of a platform where you can apply for jobs, learn about what might come in the interviews and also see company ratings, culture, WLBetc.

Yup the standard job boards and networking is the way to go!

Indeed or referrals are best

Every opportunity I’ve landed has been through the help of LI… now even though you may see that some folks profile showing the “open to work” sign posted for months doesn’t mean that the same will happen to you… you also have to take into consideration what folks are doing behind the scenes (I.e. are they reaching out to recruiters, networking etc., or just sitting back hoping that when they turn on the green light that’ll be enough) so take those scenarios into account. All the best with your search!

My SO and I both put posts up within a week of each other, and were both reached out to within days.

You’re literally from McKinsey. Of course you got near immediate offers lol. Out of touch

I had five job offers last year just from applying through company websites. Most of those I found posted on LinkedIn. Don’t underestimate just applying directly to companies.

I think it works just as well as any other networking platform but you will have to put some work in to get your name to be seen.

I don’t think anyone’s gonna comment that it’s taken months but it seems that’s the case

Linkedin is helpful for keeping a digital Rolodex. Look on LinkedIn and message people you know from your previous companies or companies you’re interested in to see if their teams are hiring or know of other places with job openings. Apply on LinkedIn, Glassdoor and Indeed.

I found my current role through the LI job board and got my previous role by reaching out to a recruiter via LI. My wife was reached out to by a few headhunters as well through LI. It’s good to keep a strong network of recruiters handy in case you decide to start looking again.

HRBP, I found my current role within a week of me changing my work status on LinkedIn. And like anything else in this digital age, everyone has their luck. I have seen people having more luck landing a job with Glassdoor or indeed. And I’ve seen people land jobs either by applying on LinkedIn, or changing their work status (or through a referral on LinkedIn). And the end of the day, if I were you, I would scale my chances of getting a job by applying on all major job boards.

uplifting

Honestly mine has been up since July and I haven’t found a new sales position yet but hopefully that changes soon.

💕 thank you so much ☺️

Do not put anything on a resume that you can't talk in detail on especially if you claim to know this topic. One you get caught having stuffed your resume with jargon and hype word but don't know anything or very much about it, the interviewer will start probing hard to find not discrepancies and soon you're resume will be in the round filing cabinet with a big no written on it.

For those of you that are citizen / PR. Do you get tons of Singapore recruiters chasing you for roles which are way out of your focus area, getting interviews done only to be ghosted after? I had a few of these and decided to not entertain anymore. My general feeling is they use me to 1- get a salary benchmark, and 2- check the box to interview an “unqualified” local only to use it as justification to get an EP for a foreigner they were targeting to bring here in the first place.
