I am in my early 30s with a BA degree in English, 6 years of consulting experience (most of which has been focused on data privacy and compliance) and IAPP qualifications (CIPP/E and CIPM). I am seriously considering quitting my job (many reasons) and moving back to Ireland to qualify as a lawyer so I can pursue more legal privacy roles.

What is the likelihood of a law firm hiring me as a trainee before I've completed any of the Irish legal exams? Would the pay match my experience?

No idea about your question But I lead privacy teams globally, as long as you got some experience in privacy and interview well, you can land an entry level privacy role (with or without the attorney tittle)

I'm am at mid-manager level currently but feel stuck. I want to progress and trying to figure out the way forward. I don't want to take a lower level job unless it is for a good reason (e.g. becoming a qualified lawyer that opens more doors).

Appreciate any advice!

Job offer extended but now some red flags… I was extended an offer today with a pay raise and great benefits. It’s in a field that interests me more but, now some red flags have come up. They voided my offer after asking for time off way in advance in December of this year & the pay that was discussed on the phone is different from my offer letter. I asked the recruiter to clarify and she said I must’ve not heard her correctly on the phone. I’m not having second thoughts… I was excited.
