Question for everyone; what are some of the better job boards for underrepresented groups in tech? Non-traditional job boards that promote inclusivity and diversity hiring?
Hi everyone! Hope everyone is well and healthy. Just wanted to come in here and take a pulse check about how you are all feeling in exploring now that a lot of things are opening up? It was sad to see that we could not execute on this idea but if you all feel comfortable, we can being to collective smaller scale outings. That being said, do you all have any recs on restaurants that do social distancing dining pretty well? This can be based on outdoor seating for now and indoor in the future.

Did anyone lateral into big law? First year in insurance litigation defense and I’m looking to see if it’s even possible to break into big law in a year or two
Out of curiosity, is consulting, esp MBB consulting not as coveted as they were several years ago? I keep seeing advanced technical (data science) skills required for many industry positions, even if the role is strategic. The traditional strategy/biz ops roles seem to become more and more selective, are typical exit paths from mbb consulting becoming more of a “red sea” situation?

I am classified as an agent selling health insurance but there’s a private email I recently gained access to showing the company is using my broker license and I suspected that since I’m the agent of record on a lot of business. They pay for everything including leads but I’m working as an agent in one email whereas there’s another showing I’m using my license as a broker. I get $43,000 salary plus commissions so averaging $80 K a year. Any advice?
I joined a startup a little less than a year ago as Marketing Director. Around three months into the role, I started to experience issues with my payroll. I would receive direct deposits a few days after my expected pay date, but I just assumed the CEO had forgotten to process my deposit in time. As more time passed, the time between my expected payday and actual payday increased and the CEO stopped processing my deposits through the payroll system.
My mom is selling her house and will get $1M in cash. Shes 65yrs old. She was thinking of investing it into index funds. That way she has a liquid source to tap into, but whatever she doesnt spend will remain as inheritance and keep growing. Thoughts? Any better alternatives?
My friend joined Wipro in mid of October 2022 and he got a better opportunity in a product based company. Now he wants to come out of the organisation. What is the probation period in Wipro for experienced employees? And in Wipro's offer letter we couldn't find terms related to Probation.

Hey Everyone, I'm a Mechanical Engineer that has not worked in the Engineering field since being in Canada. My degree is from a fully accredited institution but I have sent numerous amounts of applications and no company wants to take the chance. Since I've been here I work my way up in the few industries that I've worked in. I just need a opportunity to apply my knowledge and experience with the Mechanical Engineering field.

There's a manager on our team that has a very difficult managerial style (demanding, belittling, micromanaging). I'm also a manager. The staff have confided in me about how toxic it's become - to the point where one staff has cried and said they are at their breaking point. Any advice on how to handle the situation? Do I talk to the other manager about it (if so, how?)? Do I go to a senior manager? The partner?

Your firms most underutilized/unknown benefit?
Obviously MBB are the top consulting firms, but would people feel different about prestige based on service line? As in, is it better to be any type of BA/EM/etc at McK than doing the “sexiest” strategy work at a B4/tier 2? Would any of y’all at Tier 2s accept any lateral role at MBB? Curious to hear thoughts

Does anyone have advice on how to advance my career to the next level? I have 18 years of contact center experience (at the same company) from entry level to management. I was told in order to be an operations manager, I would need a degree and experience outside my department. I just graduated from college and returned to the contact center after working for 1.5 years in a billing department. I’m so ready to lead a contact center but there aren’t opportunities with my employer. Should I leave?
Has anyone ever been told they're too nice at work? Random comment I got from a coworker today and I'm trying to decide if I should take it seriously or not. What would you consider "too nice?"
Hi! This is my first post, but I'm really looking for advice. My manager is wonderful and just got a new position in our company. He's been telling me to go for his management position once he moves on. I finally decided I wanted to go for it. I have a wonderful reputation in my company, won their highest award, and practically do his job already. I just found out my manager is pushing someone else on our team. How do I get this job?
I going on my third year with my company. I really enjoy working here but feel under valued. As a female manager, I am left out of management meetings no reason why. Very boys club around here & and never get recognized. I started as a receptionist, moved to executive assistant now, operations manager for a little over a year. I started with being in charge of 3employees & now I am at 11.I was at $46k then got bumped up to $52k before hiring 8 new employees. Looking for advice on what to do/pay.
Hi all! Is anyone here in Underwriting? Just want some thoughts on this as i’ve recently gotten an offer for an Underwriting Associate position and have never done any salary negotiations before. Does it seem unrealistic for my counter offer to be 12k more than the original offer? Considering that the original offer is roughly 8k less than the market salary. Plus i’m also accounting for wiggle room as i’m not expecting them to actually agree with the full 12k counter offer
Hi all! I work at a Mortgage Insurance company as a Director of Risk Management. I am exploring reinsurance as my next career move and would love to hear from others who’ve made a similar move. If you had the chance, would you recommend young women join the insurance industry after college? Why or why not?
I am currently on leave after having my baby and received word from my boss/owner of the agency that we are downsizing. He communicated a decrease of my hours from full time to part time upon my return. I have a great set of skills that have made me successful in my unique position (graphic design for advertisements, logo creation, marketing initiatives, office swag) in addition to being a licensed insurance agent. Does anyone have any advice for how I navigate this change?
Wish me well. Resigning from my job of over 16yr tomorrow. So nervous, excited and sick to my stomach. I never thought this day would come when I felt I had to do this.
Trying to figure out the salary range for a P&C Account Manager - anyone willing to share? I’m in Northern CA, Bay Area and base is $72k w/ 5 years experience, but feeling underpaid.
Im getting ready to set up my WFH area and need ideas! Let me see pictures of your WFH space!
Hi ladies, I’m so nervous. For the last almost 5 years, I have worked in P&C. I LOVE the company, but I’m extremely bored with my current role now that my department has been cleaned up. Honestly, there’s no other position or higher role I could take, and I’m fine with that. I’m not leaving and can work PRN. I want to buy a house, but can’t with this pay alone. I’ve had one interview with Liberty Mutual and it went great. I’m nervous to start something new and scheduled. How did you transition?
I currently work in Marketing for a residential construction company. One of my main responsibilities is networking with realtors & lenders (planning events, coordinating office presentations, etc.) in order to network with them so they will bring their clients to our sales team. I’ve realized I can make a lot more money working in insurance as an insurance broker focused on realtors & lenders. I would love to hear the good, the bad, the ugly, of working in insurance + any tips you can share!
Hello everyone! Does anyone know any companies hiring for insurance experience other than sales or what I should do? I have my license in accident and health insurance but I realized sales aren’t for me. I’m urgently looking, so anything will help. Thanks!
Looking to potentially switch over to a company that just got acquired by Acrisure. Im told Acrisure won’t be changing anything and that our jobs/duties won’t be in jeopardy. Does anyone have thoughts on this? I would be an Ops manager.
