In my deal there are no commissions after one year. That’s on the business. Meaning commission paid first 12 months of spend then it goes to house. But in a typical BD situation you won’t be managing the account. You are solely a hunter. So the goal is a constant stream of new revenue as opposed to getting commissions in residuals.
115k base with 5% commission for first 6 months. (my FB title is out of date, but I am VPBD in NYC for a small design shop). It was a big pay cut but I've never been happier in a job.
Less stress about maintaining a client relationship. Less internal and client side politics to deal with. I think of an account as a marriage whereas BD is more like dating...no permanence but exciting.
I’m a Director of Biz Dev in a mid-size market and I make $121k + annual bonus.

Base salary ($75k in medium market) plus 5% net revenue for first year of a new client spend.
Curious what the commissions are after the first 6 months to a year?
