I doubt it would be a misstep. You would have the actual experience in the industry as a Lead. The only plausible next step is the manager/director position that you’re targeting. So unless you’re really worried about missing out on the “consultant experience,” I would consider other things like total comp, location, flexible work arrangements, etc.

Most of what prevents people from moving from industry to client service at the manager level is understanding the quality standards of client deliverables, and the audit/risk/compliance side of the Big 4. It’s a steep learning curve if you didn’t grow up in consulting. We do so many hours of trainings on covered persons, insider trading, bribery, segregation of government contracts. You’d need depth not just in framework and methodology-driven problem solving but also this heavy compliance / risk side that is so specific to audit firms. When industry are looking for management consulting YOE, they are looking at structured problem solving abilities and enough experience to know where the friction points are. Wouldn’t be bad to do a spin thru D for 2 years. That brand on your resume does help. Just know the WLB is not there, particularly because we are all oversold and need to keep selling. Only you know what you have going on in your life and whether that kind of time commitment is worth it.

@director 1 - thanks very much!

It would be unlikely to come in as a manager without client services. So I’m thinking if I don’t go to D now, I’ll out earn the senior consultant band and I don’t think I would take a pay cut or step back in the future. On the other hand, I wonder if the two industry roles I am in late stage interviews are the roles senior consultants target when they leave industry and it’s better I can land those without having to put in the long hours and travel of the consulting experience. Any comments or thoughts welcome but would really value a manager, director or above perspective on bringing in industry talent at manager +

Hi, I have 3+ year of experience in Application support. Skill set: Linux, SQL, Jenkins, Shell scripting Please DM if there is any available opening.

Is it normal/fine to confirm with a partner the language in a paragraph in a document prior to sending out to a client if you are not 100% sure it is correct? I’m in capital markets and securities and often times am unsure of what to include/how to word, particularly for private offerings. The answer seems to be obvious (yes) but I am a year and a half into traditional practice with prior adjacent experience and don’t want to be seen as not confident or that I am not progressing.

When I make a plan to do something during COVID, I always include her to do or go somewhere. Of late, when she makes plans, she goes on her own or if she goes with her friends (whom I know), she would not invite me. I feel left out and sad because of it. Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued
